In the early morning, the New Ying Farmers' Market in Kunming, Yunnan, is already bustling. Various vendors have set up their stalls early, and the shouts and calls echo continuously.
Entering the market, one is greeted by a dazzling array of vegetables and various delicacies: the aroma of green onion and pork pancakes wafts through the air, the large pot of clear beef soup is mouthwatering, the hand-torn chicken is crispy and delicious, the crispy pork belly is rich but not greasy, the Yunnan-style sausages are savory, the cornmeal cakes are sweet and chewy, Xishuangbanna brown sugar is sweet but not cloying, Yuanjiang sugarcane is refreshing and delicious, and Yuxi strawberries are sweet and tangy.
As I continued to stroll through the market, my stomach began to growl, so I ordered a serving of the large pancake and three rolls of Xishuangbanna glutinous corn, which turned out to be delicious.
