@canadianfirzen I like the yunzi stones better for some reason. Of course clamshell & slate are the gold standard in Go gear for many, but is something about yunzi stones on a bamboo board that induces relaxation and calm. Really enriches the experience, but then again I've only played with yunzi and not slate & shell. I really miss my yunzi set ;_; A good game of Go is mainly about attitude, IMHO.

@hananokuni2580 The thing I don't like about either is they are both highly manufactured. Bamboo is a hollow rod, the process to strip and build them into a large board with glue and lacquer is just way too processed for my tastes. Shell, Slate, and Wood on the other hand is so perfect. Shell carved into stone. Slate carved into stone. And most importantly a single, solid piece of wood, lines drawn with a samurai sword. You can't get more aesthetically pleasing or have more attitude than that!
