I drive a Mack Granite with tandem rears and had a 30 yrd box loaded 20 yards of dirt. I had my steer tires roughly 5 feet in the air when I loaded the box. The truck was not happy going down the road. In my case the customer lied about what they were putting in the dumpster

Yo need to get a few small bins for dirt and concrete. I have some 6 yard bins that are great money makers

Now I have my bigger trucks, I will be using my small 15 yards for heavier loads. Appreciate the watch and comment!!

Hey boss I have a hook lift business as well. I put wooden blocks on each side underneath the dumpster when dropping it for dirt rental. So when u come to pick it up and it’s a lot less stress on the hook system

Not even doing dirt anymore! But I agree, the little bit extra helps a lot!
@ryanf.6385 Жыл бұрын
If you think it might be a sketchy load, you could schedule a time to meet customer and live-load. Then you can tell em when to stop.

I never do dirt or concrete in anything that large. 10 yards of soil is over 20k dry. I would only do it if I had a smaller can like a 4 yard.

What’s the length, width and height of dumpsters I like your set up?
@joedoesfun93362 жыл бұрын
This load was probably still too much but you can use a chain to lift it from a higher position and put blocks under it. That gets your hook arm at a much better leverage point and then remove the chain, back up closer, raise the hook some and you can usually get it on the truck. Like holding a weight with a straight arm out in front of you compared to with your arm bent some. Much more power. Either way it's not worth a weight ticket or damage.

Definitely makes sense, might have to try this hack soon! Thanks for the watch & comment!

Paint a line inside the dumpster of the max fill for dirt and concrete. Or better yet own a short dumpster.
@martijnopsomer71942 жыл бұрын
Not in the dumpster industry myself. Just wondering if there shouldn't be a surcharge as you had to drive over twice, had a disruption on another schedule (where you delivered the 20 yard dumpster to) and did not have access to your dumpster on scheduled pick up (this is the same outcome as if they had the dumpster blocked off with a truck in front of it)? Any landscaper knows this is nowhere near 3 tonnes worth of dirt as they advertised. Couldn't the hydraulics have sprung a leak from overloading like that? Thanks for the video

Daaamn son! That Hino was like...NOPE! Sorry that happened and people trying to do that to ya. Just not worth tearing up your equipment over. If you ever need a place to dump some somewhat clean dirt, I'll take it all. Give me a while to get my dump trailer, I'll even come get it. Be safe, sir.

Josh you just got to say no when people tell that they have concrete, dirt, rocks, brick, stucco,,gravel, sod, or anything else like that. Unless you have small heavy duty dumpsters for that they will always overload them. Everyone always has more than they think they Have when it comes to materials like that. I had custom made 5yd concrete and dirt dumpsters made for my setup and have no problems and make good money with them. The other secret with those type of dumpsters is to find places to dump them for a flat rate, not by the ton or for free .

Josh this gives me anxiety watching and listening to your hydraulics struggle. I had a customer ask for a dirt haul and I told them I only rent my 10yd for that for this reason. Keep hustling! 🇺🇸
@timofai12 жыл бұрын
One cubic yard of dirt equals 1 ton so you have 30,000 lb. You got lucky that the customer even emptied that out for you what if they said it's on you? You should have at least drew a line inside the container to show them not to go any further past that line and I guess that will teach you never to drop off anything larger than a 10 cubic yard
@HanaMana052 жыл бұрын
You probably have atleast 15-20 tons of material in there no way your picking that up🤷🏾♂️

LOL don't you love how business owners try to screw over other business owners? Why would any person sign a form that says the renter is not responsible for damages? That just tells me that guy probably isn't insured as he should be and if he does break something he has to pay out of pocket for it. I don't understand why anyone would pay to get rid of what looked like clean dirt. Here in PA there are always people looking for Free Clean fill and they'll come to get it most of the time.

Josh my friend are you trying to destroy your equipment on purpose 🤔🤔 lol. 3 tons of dirt will fit in the back of an 8' pickup bed. That for sure at that height was 30k or more. Glad you got it emptied though. Just a question have you ever had your hydraulic system checked on your truck. It seems to move a bit slower than some I've seen. Maybe there is a slight blockage in a filter or something. But anyway dam that looked heavy. Keep getting at it and hope your father is doing better 🙏.
