The night of Aqua's graduation announcement, Tamaki/Norio did a no archive stream where she talked a lot about Aqua. I remember thinking it was a pity many people would miss the sentiments she raised. But some of them have been mentioned here... Aqua is definitely very dear to Norio.

Man…. Yura you must have cried a lot as well doing this TL man. Thank you for doing this. I didn’t think of Vtuber identities as “books” or “manga series” before but I think your TL has sort of made me think that. One day One Piece will be done, Demon Slayer and recently MHA is done. FF14 Endwalker drew a conclusive end to the main story arc and started a new one this expansion. It’s a lot less sad when i think about vtubers as “stories” that have an eventual end date. The person is still around but the character’s narrative journey in the virtual space has ended. Stories end so that we can treasure it and start to read new ones as well. Let me take this opportunity to also thank your steadfast service to the fans on providing accurate and responsible TL clips for holo talents too. There really aren’t many like yourself within this small ring of community.

Norio crying on stream like this is a rare sight. In fact I think the only time I've seen her lose her composure like this was when Nobuhime graduated. I'm really glad so many people have been very up front and honest with their feelings concerning Aqua's graduation. This month has been a nonstop marathon of Aqua appreciation.

as an average otaku salaryman wht norio-sensei said is definitely wht i'm thinking like there's no way someone would graduate/leaving hololive because the company is getting better and better and the they treat their talents with good care. but then i remembered my previous jobs that i quit just because like one time emotion maybe like i don't like my direct manager or even like the way of this company don't suit me at all those kind of thinking where later on makes me regret for quitting cause i can't see the good treatments the company gave me and i take it for granted. I can only hope that Akutan doesn't regret for her decision to leave holo and have a better future after leaving holo 🙏.

On top of this, this isn't the first time that Mea had experienced this in her career thus far. When the person she used to collab often had graduated, there hasn't been any such collab with the reincarnation even though they've had years of experience with each other and Mea collab'ing with many of around such person.

Something Norio said sticks out to me; a graduation is something to celebrate. I keep thinking about how there's only a few ways that a vtuber can leave. A sudden termination, where all their content & accomplishments are deleted. Suddenly leaving, where their channel stays, but there is no chance for closure. And finally, a proper graduation, where there is advance warning, goodbyes and farewells can be planned out, and a long legacy is protected. Obviously, it's sad, but since everything eventually ends, even though we impossibly hope it never will, a proper graduation is the ending we should hope for, for all our oshis.

I'm kinda glad, and I must admit a bit worried, how Aqua is really closing all the knots for the graduation... worried because she must be absolutely overworked already at this point, plus this storm of emotions everyday, it can't be easy to handle... but it's like, she won't miss any opportunity to close this up the best way possible, and hopefully everyone will have a chance to say goodbye. And the closest people to her will be there after the graduation, so I'm relieved to hear it won't be a problem to meet up and talk about it. I was scared of not knowing how well she's doing afterwards, unsure if she'll really continue Vtubing or not. There's a bit of a good and kinda weirdly opposite comparison to Frieren there, right? Her legacy will endure forever as long as Vtubing continues being a thing, due to her role in popularizing the concept, much like A-chan's legacy and others. But she's leaving all this content that people years from now will be able to watch. I kinda feel some sort of comfort knowing I'll always be able to watch some clips as an old guy, if I live to old age that is. xD Gratitude is the main feeling... to Aqua for all these years, and to clippers and Yura without whom it wouldn't be possible to enjoy all of this, since I failed at learning Japanese properly so far. xD Thanks once more!

This whole conversation really did feel like they're waking down memory road, it makes me feel nostalgic even though I haven't experienced it myself. Hearing Norio-sensei cry broke my heart. Her sentiment is definitely shared by many of us. I never expected Aqua ti graduate either, and now that it's happening I can only regret that I couldn't support her more, not in the past and not in her days up until graduation either due to my health making it difficult to do so. In the beginning I was just glad she would getva proper send off, but now that her graduation is getting closer, it's starting to set in that she really will be leaving. I'm glad Norio-sensei got to collab with Aqua one last tjme, and I hope they will continue to chat and eat together now that Aqua will be less busy

You should definitely check out her streams. She even runs her own vtuber agency with a dozen or so current and former members. Her older streams were especially legendary, like piss-holding endurance Tetris streams with matsuri and several others.

In all these years and all those graduations, I feel like Aqua is the first time I've seen so many coworkers and friends be so frustrated she's quitting, and openly admitting they don't want to see her go. Sure, there was the Coco thing with the letters and the crying but even in that there was this underlying mutual understanding in what needed to be done. With Aqua it just feels like they are trying to stop a pointless "I quit!" moment, if that makes sense?

That's because Aqua has been with Hololive for over 6 years compared to Coco, who had only 1 year with Hololive. Aqua deepened her friendships and bonds with mostly everyone she's been with.

I really wonder what's the actual and specific reason of Aqua's graduation. A lot of her friends really feels like they don't agree with Aqua's graduation and they're just trying to respect her decision. But still they always lowkey imply that Aqua shouldn't graduate.

or perhaps it is to left behind a legacy. if the only way out when they stopped working is through termination; it is too sad. by taking graduation, their channel and all its contents would remain. (or so i hope) and so far, Hololive have had 2 of their talents got 'erased'. or perhaps theres another reasons which nobody knows except those who know.

@@azuazudesu Honestly I think that's exactly what Aqua is doing. She just want to take it easy from now on, living her personal life. She doesn't want to be involved at Cover Corp anymore with all the responsibility and restrictions of a big Company. So in a way, that also fits the narrative of "different directions with the Company"
