really makes you think how many holomems have considered graduating but stopped by other members and cover themselves. that’s why graduation always feels very bittersweet for me personally knowing they found other things that they want to do but hololive no longer can accommodate it/ be the place for it. at the very least i’m just glad that aqua and other alums before her are able to graduate on their own terms and i’m also glad that startend is a thing, definitely the trio of all time, im gonna miss their shenanigans.

More than anything, I’m just kind of confused, because I know that while Hololive has gotten more restrictive in the last couple years as they’ve gotten bigger, and vtubing isn’t as popular as it once was, I’m more just curious about what she was unable to do. It’s not like she’s someone who would wants to push the envelope like Coco in terms of content Hololive doesn’t approve of. I guess we’ll find out eventually, but I’m just really curious what she couldn’t do while still in Hololive.

@@KahlevN It's more like reverse of others. The company grew alot and increased the amount of commitments. If you watch others twitspace and stuff you get the hints of it. She was more comfortable being the gamer maid with time to time lives and events but now it became alot of sponsored events, meet and greets and more concerts. I think it is not what aqua desired

When you get this big you have to follow procedures you didn't before, you have obligations you didn't before, and the company needs to solidify its direction and goals. That means it looks and acts differently potentially, its outgrown its old clothes and needs new ones, and while you might make those new clothes look like your old ones, it cannot be the same by nature.

It’s so bittersweet hearing how many holomems have tried to talk Aqua out of leaving, both on stream and off. So much of Hololive ran through her; UmiSea, NEGI U, and Startend for example. She was also in a ton of Hololive Idol Project songs like Candy Go Round, Prism Melody, and Asuiro Clear Sky. In the end I’m so proud that she was able to make such a hard decision and stand up for what she thought was best for herself, but I’m going to deeply miss our little onion maid. She really grew immensely over her 6 years and I hope she can find happiness in whatever she decides to move on to next🩷⚓️💙

@@dycelord its probably because Sui-chan got into holo as a vtuber not as her IRL self hence whether she get fired or not her model would still be hers and that she's confident that she can thrive as an indie. The same couldn't be said with other holomems as they'd lose their models upon getting fired and they probably can't imagine themselves being financially stable as an indie compared to the financial security that comes with being a holomem.

I really appreciate the translation of this difficult and sensitive topic Yura-san. Because of that, I am more at ease about this because what I see here are three good friends that will remain that way. Their very close with each other, so much so that I believe even if they won't be interacting with each other at work, they will remain close friends outside work, which is something you cannot always say when there's a graduation. Suisei and Azki probably the few that had more freedom in their work options compared to the rest. Several of the early gen members also have wider range of what they can do. Ayame and Shion for example take breaks often without much noise from management publicly. They can do other work that are under a different name as long as that work doesnt conflict with their hololive schedule. I think Aqua achieved many things in Hololive, like her solo lives, albums, game, events. She was big enough that what she did could represent the company image.

I find Aqua saying that she stayed longer because of startend very relatable. Sometimes you really do stay at your job longer because how close you get with your coworkers. I still visit my coworkers at my old job frequently because they truly were the reason i stayed at that job for so long.. despite it technically delaying my own career. It really does suck that Aqua had to leave hololive because of difference in direction but i can only hope she'll come back soon as an independent.

I absolutely agree with you. People brought up Hololive became "stricter" but even Suisei has said it: it is not something that Cover could simply accommodate for her. Even Shion gets to be on break for mutiple months and still come back just fine, there is no thing less pressuring than that. People need to understand that it's is just not "streaming" or "not streaming" but so many thing else to do in life, the streamer isn't oblidged to show every single thing of her life for everyone to see.

Depends on for what though. Hololive is great and the place to be if your goals are to say get big, have albums, and do all the things that line up with what hololive also wants. But it's not for everyone, there is pressure and demands and rules and all sorts of things that being in hololive entails that some people aren't cut out for.

Just from my opinion, its probably as simple as the idol status that prevent her from moving forward. Just that. Take that out of the equation and the company too, maybe she will grow even further. Pekora on the other hand has been grinding hard strictly following Hololive rules or the first to set the rules and she probably already comfortable with what she wants to plan ahead. To me Aqua and Pekora are quite ambitious when it comes to streaming content, and only that Pekora is early in leading the wave and Aqua finally able to confide in her to do the same. I'm so surprise that Aqua even played Valorant with VSPO members. There is a high chance she has always wanted to play with them I guess. Not sure what is stopping her as a Hololive Talent when others Holomem can do it easily. I just hope she have a manager that she will hired with her after leaving Hololive. As a solo content creator is a nightmare...with someone as ambitious as her. We have someone like Doki as a proof.

Coco's "official" reason for graduating was she wanted to move on to different things. She never said anything about rules or restrictions being the cause. But I feel like the biggest factor in her graduation was that she was tired of the constant harassment from Chinese antis. You have to remember that it was to the point that even other members talking about her would result in those members being flooded with harassment spam, and if anyone dared collab with her they would become permanent targets for harassment. Even if the holomem didn't care about being harassed, and just wanted to support Coco, I can only imagine that she still would have felt horrible that anyone who interacts with her gets subjected to that. That kind of walking on eggshells and not wanting to burden your friends/coworkers with all the harassment would make it impossible to enjoy being in that situation.
