Yuri Bashmet Schnittke Viola Concerto Pt 3

i know Schnittkes system very well. there is no one note wrong. his coplex of rhytm and chord are bit complicated but very beatiful. dont forget he was a musician and wonderful composer of movies and animated movies. Bashmet is one of the best viola players. very great performance from Salzburg, Austria few years ago

Yuri Bashmet is not wrong.. "the wrong notes" are the correctly notes... Schnittke wrote this concerto based on a new system to write music.. listen the violin concertos too..

@InLovewithBach no wrong notes that is just schnittke. On of the most strange harmonies i have ever heard. One of my friends just got tendentious from playing this piece

I am highly unfamiliar with the instruments : ( Are there two pianos on stage? Or is one of them a fortepiano or what?

i think you are right. at first i thought it was a harpsichord, but then took a closer look.

Romantic ? Hmm... You may refer to love of dark feelings , love of fear , love of madness , etc , because that is what his music inspires , me any way he is a great composer but his music is very complex , dark , strange and hard to understand . That is what makes the modern music hard to play apart of the tecnique , and the dificulty of the piece , is the understanding of the piece so you could play it "correctly".
