Both games have disturbing moments. Both games are depressing. Both games deal with some kind of disability/illness: DDLC deals with depression, anxiety, suicide, abuse, and poses questions about reality. KS deals with depression, anxiety, physical disability, loss, as well as coping mechanisms and how one might handle those situations and it poses philosophical questions in passing. Both of them have characters who have some sort of ailment, and they more or less realistically portray certain things as best as they can within the context of their storylines. (Such as (without saying too much) Emi's detachment, Rin's art and... listlessness(?), Hanako's anxiety, Sayori's "energy", Natsuki's physique, Monika's desperation, Misha's hyperactivity). KS has h-scenes. DDLC has... not really gore, but blood absolutely. Yuri x Hanako. (Shy, Loves Books, Purple Hair, Busty) Natsuki x Emi (Small, Daddy Issues, Love Sweets, Bright hair). Sayori x Misha (Energetic, Loud, Hyper.......). Monika x Lilly (Elegant, Proper, there's something unique about how they "see" the world, real hair colors). MC x Shizune (They're both douchebags with ulterior motives, this doesn't spoil either game as its in the immediate beginning of both). Hisao x Iwanako (Alternate Universe?) Both games can be extremely bittersweet, but only one has any real good endings. Death is a prevalent theme in both. Tbh I think KS handles how the characters deal with their issues better but that's because DDLC had a stronger focus in mind than the characters ailments, which was the horror- and it deliberately made its characters archetypes with depth, I suppose KS did that too actually. Plus I haven't played it in a while and I just freshly finished KS so that one is stronger in mind than DDLC right now. It would have been nice to see how the other characters would have reacted to Sayori's incident, and it would have been nice if KS went down the darker route they originally intended for Shizune and Misha. I love both. _Monika may break the fourth wall, but Kenji breaks the fence on the roof._

Some people suffers from anxiety, sure there is a lot of healthy ways to cope with it like psychotherapy or meditation, but it didn't heal them in that exact moment they needed to be healed. thus, came an alternative; cutting! cutting to them feels like an emergency exit if things started to went wrong in their lives. mainly because the shock that cutting gave them makes for a good distraction, against what? against the emotional mess inside a person's head called Anxiety. Cutting made most of them feel clear-headed for a while so that they're able to think carefully and reassess the situation calmly. however it is quite addicting due to it's 'Emergency Exit' factor, they think it's a short, quick and effective way to relieve themselves. *_That answers your second question_* 3. Didn't Yuri said that she liked a book that have a deep story and stuffs that made you think? i think that's a quite good book, the plot is quite intriguing and the symbol on the cover makes for a good depiction of the story, just take 1984 by George Orwell for example.. the cover is quite Ominous but it depicts the book really nicely and the story is awesome *_That answers your third question_* 4. This is quite sad and happy at the same time Sad because of Yuri and Hanako not having so much friends and are introverts Happy because two of them become friends by just a simple friendly "Hello" and "How are you?" And that feeling made my heart warmed, because I have a friend that is a girl who is in the midst of depression, I tried to comfort her and trying to help her out no matter what, despite the fact she has a boyfriend even tho her boyfriend doesnt really matter about what she is feeling, and sometimes my friend will tell me about her being a problem to his life... Once again... Thanks Woutmees for this short animation, this is why I love DDLC and other various VN like Katawa Shoujo corrolating or mashing up together to make a heart warming fanbase...
