Less than 10 days ago I watched my two dearest friends walk down the aisle to this song, and I now I cannot hear this without seeing the both of them standing with one another, seeing each other's wedding gowns for the first time, looking into each other's eyes and knowing they were about to be married, and no one there cared that it was a same-sex wedding, only that they found one another and fell in love. That day, everything was timed perfectly with this song. It will always represent the purest love two people can share, and your arrangement helped create one of the most perfect moments I've ever witnessed in my life, and the happiest day in the lives of my dearest friends. I dunno what it is about this song, but it's so beautiful and emotional. I love it. It tells a rollercoaster of a story, wait, lemme explain. In the show, we start off with seeing Yuuri hopeless. The song starts with a sad, melancholy tune that screams, "I have no will left; I give up!" Then it changes. Viktor shows up and shows Yuuri what happiness is. He, well, basically saves Yuuri. Yuuri wants to impress Viktor, to prove that he's worthy of being his apprentice. The music represents how Yuuri found motivation. Instead of saying "I have no hope," it says, "I want to try everything." Then it changes again. I think this is where Yuuri realizes that he loves Viktor. Probably around episode 7, I think. The music speaks of unconditional love, almost like Agape. (Is that how you spell Agape???) Near the end, it combines motivation _and_ love. Because, now, Yuuri has both. He is, finally, truly happy.

Absolutely love this. Also - Yuri on Ice is not yaoi, and is not shounen ai either - it is merely a sports anime with an emotionally supportive romantic relationship as the subtext to the show. Don't write off Viktor's personality as gay, and the only "fanservice" parts were in the onsen where people are supposed to be naked anyways. Romance isn't even the main point of this series!

Yaoi is a female-directed genre that idealizes some homoerotic male-male couple, where the main point of the story is the romanticization of this relationship. There tends to be some unrealistic, toxic, "taboo" elements in yaoi that appeals and titillates its audience. YOI simply doesn't have romance as its main focus. The story revolves around Yuuri overcoming his mental weaknesses and striving towards his ultimate goal, with Victor merely being someone important to him that guides, helps, and supports Yuuri along the way. Your case of "sexual affection when in a bath" was fanservicy, yes, but understand that that sort of display is very possible in Japan - men bathe in the onsen together naked. So do women. Victor was flashy, yes, but it is not an example of yaoi. It's just an aspect of his character. Also Yuuri using Victor as motivation is not even close to being an example of yaoi. How does wanting someone pay attention to only one person make it so? Is it just because they're two guys? Two guys being possessive of each other isn't exactly the be all end all for defining what yaoi is.

I'm 16, this song always makes me cry. I'm getting this song in piano this year, 2023 I mean. The actual full and real version of it. I have a lot of physical illnesses and I used to compete in figure skating. I cant anymore because my body can't handle it. I loved it soo much. My mother passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly a little over a year ago and my father has been absolutely devastated since. I downloaded this arrangment to my phone and was playing it my car recently when I was driving my father to holiday vacation. In middle of the classic rock and Lady Gaga mix on my playlist this started playing and my dad sat up and listened when he usually only tolerates my music selections. He asked what this was and I told him briefly that is was from an anime about ice skating and several pianists on KZbin had tackled the song but this was my favorite. When it ended he asked me to play it again and when it was finished the second time he said my mother would have loved it. So thank you very much for this.

Am I the only one who didn't really like this arrangement as much as I though I would?:/ I am not hating, because I usually love Theishter's arrangements... I don't know, I just thought some parts weren't as powerful as in the original, and some parts kind of took away the original feelings. Maybe it's cause I love the original to bits... As a fellow musician (not trying to be a know-it-all, just saying what I thought when hearing this), sometimes there's not enough flow in the sextoles. And somewhere the timing of the accompanying bass sounded slightly off. The climax point sounded kind of sloppy instead of sharp without that big build to a sharp finale. From 2:45 I prefer it played even to get that build up, I know sometimes music is played slightly non-even for effect, but I just didn't think it sounded too good with that there. From 3:05 I just thought the right hand sounded too empty and jumpy, not the jumpy kind of way in the original. I love the part starting from 3:32 though, sounded great.
