Michael Shure of The Young Turks interviews Yusef Salaam. He came to the nation’s attention at 15 years old as a member of the Central Park Five, the group of teenage boys of color who were wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for the rape and beating of a woman in New York City and then exonerated years later when the real rapist confessed. In 2014, the Central Park Five received a multi-million dollar settlement from the city of New York for this grievous injustice. Today Salaam is an activist on issues of mass incarceration, police brutality and misconduct, and the disparities in America’s criminal justice system.

Yusef is very intelligent but hus not a good friend. He never tried to write Korey knowing Korey went there just to support him and he knew Korey wasn't educated. If Reyes would of met the others I believe he would of kept his mouth shut... Korey have a good soul and appreciate everything thats given to him. Im sure the other four said anything parole board asked to get out. I really don't like Yusef.

Gloria Brown he couldn’t write Korey they were convicted felons who could not have contact with one another or that would be another charge. They did not even know where Korey was at for most of his incarceration. Yusef’s mother was asked by Korey’s mom to allow Yusef to write Korey and between the two mothers they would exchange the letters, but understandable Yusef’s mother did not want to run the risk of getting him in anymore trouble.

ABERT well if they are they are brilliant, they have found a way to do a crime , and get away with it and receive a large settlement. I wonder did those teens plan it when they went to the park or at the police station. When did they come up with this plan to be convicted of a crime they committed ,and later have the serial rapist confess 12 years later. Either these teenagers are brilliant and crazy... or the system is flawed. I’ll go with the system giving the history of mistreatment of different races such as native Americans and African Americans!
