For context on why the flashback showed Yuuki protecting Pecorine: It's a flashback to the final battle against Mana in the previous loop Yuuki lived through. As for why it was showing Pecorine crying and not Kokkoro, who Yuuki is closer to in the anime. Yuuki and Pecorine have always had a closer relationship in the game (and every other loop that they end up meeting in), even being the two who founded their guild.

Canonically speaking, Pecorine is in love with him, bit she has stated that she won't pursue Yuuki until he gets his memories back since she's worried about the possibility of stealing him from a potential girlfriend he had before his amnesia (though that didn't stop her from kissing him on the cheeks and hugging him every time). She even adds that if Yuuki truly wants to be with her, then she will happily accept.

@@edgarchavez351 Yes. Pecorine outright confesses to Yuuki (and Kokkoro) that she has indeed fallen in love with him after they rescue her from the castle dungeon. But she doesn't want to go farther since she refuses to take advantage him when he still hasn't recovered his memories yet. She adds that if Yuuki reciprocates and wants to be with her, then she would happily enter a relationship with him (and even though she said that, it didn't stop her from kissing him on the cheek at the end of Arc 1 lol).

It doesn't branch off. It was implied heavily in the game that Labyrista had proposed the same options to Yuuki many times and he has chosen the second option more than once. The anime is simply ONE of the many loops that Yuuki ultimately fails in before he starts over again.

However, it would've been cool to have some for the important characters like the gourmet guild, labyrinth, and twinkle wish. Those characters for example have more bearing on the story so seeing their side stories animated would've been nice to see. Also, seeing the same story but animated is what I want to see. And there is plenty of anime that follows the same path as the light novel and manga. So I don't understand how it would be boring to see an adaptation of the same story but animated. Also also, people hate it when the anime deviates from the source material like promised neverland for example.

*Spoiler* In the OG Princess Connect, Yui wished in the SOL Tower during the fight with Kaiser that Yuuki be kept safe and happy, but meanwhile while making the wish, Kaiser tried to attack and interrupt the process but was stopped by Yuuki and ended up killing him in the process. This resulted in the VR world (Astrum) glitching out, causing a mass memory wipe to almost every person (including every guild Yuuki met in Re:dive except Team Labyrinth), and started the Re:dive timeline with god knows how many loops has happened. The cause of the loops and memory resets in summary really is Yui's wish that got twisted. Btw in the OG Yuuki never interacted with Peco, Kyaru, and Kokorro at all and never appeared in the original Princess Connect Web Game. The Gourmet Guild is honestly the biggest question mark as to why they are Yuuki's current companions in most of the Re:dive loops, when even in his IRL self he barely interacted with them. Meanwhile almost every guild in Re:dive knows Yuuki familiarly in some way, shape, or form for awhile in IRL.

In the game, there are 2 outcomes when they were fighting against kaiser, One is to continue fighting which is the storyline of the game. Two is to restart which is the anime, but yuuki's soul/brain was damaged in that fight so he's always in a blank state whenever he restarts, some people know him because they are aware of the loop. Tldr: Game = No restarts, keep fighting Anime = restart Edit: He only restarts to the point where he meets kokkoro and others for the first time so there were already people who knew him before that whilst not knowing about the loop
