This may be a off the wall comfort for a video- as I'm not sure a lot of listeners may struggle with this disorder- but it's call Pots, it is considered to be rather rare...but it would be cool to see done as it's very hard to live with- and not a lot of people are aware that it exists I finally got cleared for the test for it- about 8 months after everything started 🙌 hallelujah

As a person with ADHD and Autism, I get really happy finding audios like this. It's so hard to find audios that caters to these specific mental illnesses. You can find ones for Depression and Anxiety very easily (and I don't mind, cause I also have those disorders), but finding ones for being Neurodivergent is hard. So I tend to treasure these little gems when I can.

As someone with ADHD I get specific medication for it, It doesn't exactly work all the time but it still slows it down. Not everyone understands it but ADHD isn't just zoning out or mixing words together and stuff like that, Most of the time you can't focus which causes you to fall behind in work or studies. You also cant last long in a bond because you become less social and responsive, however if you have friends that really understand you they'll stay with you for a long time. Its hard because you try so hard to get close to people but the words inside never come out.

Adhd is a real pain in the ass when it comes to performing tasks and following instructions. I know because I've been on medication for it since I was in middle school. Because of adhd along with other personal issues, I had trouble with college and eventually dropped out. I felt stuck in life until I started working out at the gym to burn off my energy and help me focus at work at the end of the day. I eventually got pushed by my brother to take a personal trainer exam course and now I'm a certified trainer and plan to take up a new job working along side my brother at his gym. Because of the changes I took, I'm happier with life, in good shape with my exercise and diet routines, and I've been off adhd medication for 2 years coming this July. Adhd can be managed if you do the right research and make some changes to help you refocus and center yourself.

So I know people get the general gist of ADHD, low attention span and hyperactivity, but I know that for me when people label adhd as just “haha crackhead can’t sit still disorder”. So, I’ve decided to leave a few common and unspoken symptoms of ADHD that everyone seems to forget about but are still very much there: Rejection sensitive dysphoria: the fear of being criticized or called out for failure, and the extreme frustration, rage, and sometimes panic attacks that follow when one is heavily criticized. Don’t get me wrong, nobody likes heavy criticism, but people with ADHD and RSD experience these emotions of embarrassment and anger more strongly, and grow up with a fear of failure for fear of the criticism that follows. Lack of object permanence: basically the principle of “out of sight, out of mind” to the 100th degree. If things are put away in drawers, cabinets, or closets, and aren’t used daily, people with ADHD forget these things exist and will go months without using something that could have once been very valuable. This applies to people we don’t interact with much as well. Executive dysfunction: most people know that ADHD causes a lack of focus and some may know it can include a lack of productivity, but not as many know why. Executive dysfunction is the condition where people spend a lot of time thinking about something they need to do, but feeling physically unable to do it. The longer they wait, the more they think about it, (unless they get distracted) but the less likely they are to actually get this thing done. “I should take a shower, I need to take my meds, I want to call my friend today, I might want to go on a walk” are things that can go through someone’s mind all day as they surf on their phone for hours, not really doing anything in particular. Dissociation: I’m not sure how common this is among people with ADHD, but I thought I’d put it here anyways as I struggle with this from time to time. I tend to zone out to the point of not associating with reality. I stop seeing things I am staring at directly, I don’t hear what someone is saying to me even if I verbally acknowledge that they’ve spoken, and I tend to lose all concept of time doing nothing at all. Examples would be making direct and prolonged eye contact with a stranger across the street and not noticing; starting at a wall and then realizing it’s been 30 minutes since you’ve moved, or needing to ask a question again because, although you responded to the answer, your brain didn’t fully process it. Hopefully this sheds light on a few things, and this is only based on my knowledge and experience. Comment if you have anything else to share!

NO FUCKINNG WAY AN ADHD AUDIO?!?! I FEEL SO GOOD RN HOLY SHIT THANK YOU FOR THIS-- Sad vent incoming- I hate feeling like I never progress in anything, like the world moves around but I stay doing nothing…just wanting to do something- anything but I just….can’t. And it’s like I’m always distracted 24/7 as if a 5 minute task takes me 5 weeks. I’ve been feeling like this for as long as I’ve been alive and yet it’s always the same criticism “You never apply yourself. You’re always away with the fairies in daydream land” and it fucking hurts because I’m trying so hard and yet getting nowhere. So really sappy shit aside this is a huge fucking comfort thank you.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and it’s been so weird for me at work. I used to ask about tasks so many times and even after I was just told what to do I wouldn’t hear. I know they were talking but I wouldn’t comprehend it. And then I would get it, do something else and completely forget, even if it was just for a minute. I felt frustrated and my managers would give me weird looks and make me feel stupid. I didn’t know why and it made me feel just stupid or not working hard enough. Now I am on medication and work is so much different! I was able to remember things (to an extent) and I would be able to comprehend them the first time. I feel so different now and it’s for the better 100%. It’s just strange that something as “simple” as ADHD was what was making me so upset…
