ABOUT THE SKATER: Yuzuru Hanyu (羽生 結弦) is a Japanese figure skater, and a two-time men's Olympic figure skating champion. He is only the second male skater to ever win the Winter Olympics twice (and back-to-back!), 66 years after the only ever time. He won first at 19 yo in Sochi, and the second time at 23 yo in Pyeongchang. He is the only male skater to ever complete the career Super Slam, which required him to win every major ISU-sanctioned competition at the junior and senior level. Forging an unprecedented and impressive career thus far, Yuzuru has garnered acclaim from skaters of all disciples, and boasts a massive international fanbase. He has broken and holds many world records, and is known to combine artistry along with high-level technical content during all of his programs. Just recently, he was awarded the International Skating Union's "Most Valuable Skater" award, solidifying him as a GOAT of the sport, and one of the best figure skaters ever. Recently, Yuzuru announced his retirement from competitive skating, much. to the dimay of many fans. However, rest assured- he continues to skate and is well in his prime.
