yuzuru hanyu has indeed retired from competitive skating, but switching to professional! which means he will not be competing anymore but will perform in ice shows and such! very excited for a new chapter of his career :)

Thanks for this nice video! His second Olympic gold was extraordinary because in November 2017 Yuzu seriously injured his ankle, it was not known if he would have recovered in time for the Olympics. He participated but was not at his best, he took painkillers, yet he skated 2 wonderful programs, Chopin perfectly, Seimei with those little imperfections. How much joy, emotions and tears in those days ❤❤❤

Thank you for your nice reactions to Yuzuru's programs. As we say, he won his 2nd gold Olympic medal on one and a half ancle. The right leg is the jumps landing leg, so you may can imagine the stress on his injured ancle. But was a glorious win. He was the first to winning back to back gold medals in 2 Olympics after 66 years! His short program Shopin Ballade 1. Was amazing! Greetings from Greece. 🙂

For a program skater earns points for technic (green and red lights you see on screen during performace) and points for artistic side of performance, then put together they make a final score for one program. That's why sometimes skater makes mistake but his artisic side of performance is so beautiful that they make it hight in podium :D Yes, Yuzuru Hanyu is retiring but from competitive skating so we won't see him anymore in any sports competitions BUT in skate shows, exhibitions and he will stil practice his goals (4A jump). It's surely sad and ends some epok but I wish him all best

Free program is also amazing (one of my most favorite) but he actually won because of his flawless short program 111.68 highest (but as usual underscored) scores lead (one joker judge gave 8.75 for transitions ?) 109.55 is the TES combine with 96.62 PCS = 206.17 + 111.68 = 317.85 total points. He's retired now but will continue as a pro.

When he was fighted in Beijing 2022 Olympic, he got serious injury on his right ankle during his practicing for long program of next day. Even though, he took the 4th prize at 3 times winter olympics. However, that injury is not the reason of his turn to professional athlete (Yuzu never used the word "retirement") . Main reason is the judgement system of competition can't work, even his high level technical abilities and artistically impressions. No matter how high the difficulty level of the performance, he can't get a good score. Yuzu can count himself how many score his performance can get even in his performance. He thought ISU (Int'l Skate Union) wish yuzu take away from competitions. I'm sure that he can get Gold even now if the judgement system can work strictly. From tomorrow (May 26) Fantasy on ice (FaOI2023) ice show will be held in Japan. You can see his latest performance maybe on KZbin in shortly.

I'm happy to see you reacting to the best ice dancer in the world ☺ Yuzuru Hanyu's skating is literally ethereal. He makes jumps seem easy, his rotations are perfect and he looks like a fairy from another world, compared to other male competitors. The skaters have two performances in the competition. The first one is a short program - the focus is on performing technical elements. The second one is a free program - they evaluate technical elements and also aesthetics of the performance. Yuzuru was 1st in the short program and 2nd int he free program we have seen here. Fortunately he didn't touch the ice by his hands after the jump, that's why he has lower performance points, but his technical score wasn't lowered. The sum of the points got him the 1st place. Btw. there is a short anime series Yuri on Ice inspired by Hanyu 🎌⛸

Every figure skating competition consists of two segments: the short program and the free skate. The final placements/ rankings are decided by the combined score of the two programs. Each program also consists of two scores: a technical score (the one in the box) and a program component score (which is the score given for transitions between elements, skating skills like speed, performance abilities, interpretation of the music and composition/choreography of the entire program), so that’s why it may be confusing to only focus on the box because it only shows one half of the final score for the program. Even though he had a slightly lower technical score because of the two mistakes, he has beaten the Chinese man (boyang Jin) because he is much better in the component score giving him a higher total program score. He also performed an amazing short program, so his total score was the highest, so he won. I hope this helps a little! And yes, he had an ankle injury earlier this year, but unfortunately, it’s not the first time, and it is repetitive issue for a long time. He was injured in the performance you just watched, too, on the same ankle. He decided to retire from competitions this year, but he will continue to pursue projects in the world of professional skating which includes ice shows and maybe other projects.

If you like Figure Skating, a Chinese Ice Dance team performed a gala skate (Not judged. Just for entertainment and fun) to The Untamed and dressed up as Lan Zhan and Wei Ying back in 2020. And Yuzu is amazing! I love Yuzu. The last I heard he's performing in an on-ice show. But I don't know if the show ended or not.

Are you from South Asia? It's so interesting to see how Yuzu has brought this winter sport to be known in non traditional countries such as Europe or North America. Well yes I've known fs since 1978 but it's different now. Back then ice rinks were opened only at certain time for recreational purpose. But know youngsters in SA and SEA start to choose fs as their sport.

I am from Turkey. Figure skating was very popular here when 1980-1990 I remember we were watching it with my family when i was child. But later soccer has been too much popular and very dominant. These years other sports especially volleyball and basketball is getting popular too. But i love to watch figure skatings aesthetic moves ❤️✌️

I have already told you that I love ice dancing very much. If you also like it so much, you should take a look at some older ones. (Jane Torvill & Christopher Dean 1994 Lillehammer Olympics EX Bolero Ice Dancing (UK), Paul and Isabella Duchesnay (Duchesnay & Duchesnay (FRA) - 1988 Worlds, Ice Dancing, Free Dance), with a very unique music and dance that was very controversial with the jury at the time. Surya Bonaly with the now banned back flip ( SURYA BONALY( 1st time doing her trademark back flip)1994 Olympics figure skating exhibition ) , Elvis Stojko (Canada) (Elvis Stojko 1994 Lillehammer (In Uchronia - Speed) v2 ) , Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko (Rusian) ( [HD] Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko - 1992 Albertville Olympic - Free Dance ) Midori Ito (Japan) with high jumps and fast spins ( Midori Ito 1988 Calgary Olympics LP ) and so I can keep going on and on 😅 because there are a lot of amazing ice skaters. 🥰
