In Philippines, we are taught in school not to lay the flag of our country in the ground, we fold it like how Military officers fold it, we shall never trample on it even when iy comes the time that our country sometimes pisses us off. Also we are told from our ancestors to respect other nation's flags, like how Yuzu respected the flag of USA. Flags should be treated sacred as it shows the pride of every races.

Sadly not every country teaches that, and some of them even encourages being "smartly" disrespectful to other countries, like it is something admirable. But even if countries teaching respect, people don't really remember. You can see Shoma simply putting the Japanese flag away like it's just a piece of fabric. Nothing special. Yuzu is a perfect role model.

It's not mandatory, Yuzuru is doing it to show extra respect for the flag and his country which is a very beautiful move from him.

It's amazing how the accompanying music is bts piano! Both him and Bts are my two favorite stars of all time. Both are equally respectful,humble, and down to earth. Showing us that they are HUMAN. I wish them both the BEST in the future. I am totally mesmerized with all of Yuzur's performances. Once I start ,I can't stop. If he retires from ice skating I think he will be a wonderful dancer. I wonder how it will be when they both meet each other? Both are 👑🌟

He is an extraordinary athlete and artist, but it is his character that makes him that much more special. The more I learn about him the more amazing his becomes. I am particularly moved by him helping to fill out the ice holes, and taking care not to cover up the American flag with the Japanese flag. That is way above and beyond in showing respect.
