The only fragrance that had women approach me and asked what I was wearing. Back in high school a girl literally threw herself around me to get the fragrance on her clothes. Just a tip and this will go against the proper way of wearing colognes: Spray once or twice on your wrist, wait a second or two then dab your wrist on both sides of your neck. Wash sprayed wrist with soap to remove the scent. The dabbed scent would still remain with you for hours and would still project but not too harshly.

Before niche fragrances became my thing, in the 80s I went through a few bottles of Kouros, by far my most complimented fragrance. It is one of the very few designer fragrances that I still have a bottle of. I love that fragrance, and even though it might have lost some of its power over the years, it still smells intoxicating like the old formulation Kouros. Love it!

I recently bought a new current bottle/batch of this, and even though I knew the smell, from older people wearing it back in the day and personally testing it out at department stores, I found this new bottle is somewhat tamed down compared to what I remember, but still a worthy purchase, to me this is the most refined and complex designer Mens fragrance from the early 80s, this is considered a King in the fragrance world, I am a bit surprised this is the first time you are reviewing this.

Hi Steven! Love these classic scent reviews! It can be surprising to go back & smell all that civet in classic fragrances! I wore a Chanel No. 5 from 1984 the other day that was such a civet bomb! Happy to see this review of a classic! My dad wore this a lot when I was a kid and I have fond memories of smelling it. As I started getting into fragrances, I found myself gravitating towards a lot of the notes in Kouros. Beau de Jour by Tom Ford and Hacivat by Nishane were some early fragrances I acquired when I realized that I was influenced by my dad wearing Kouros. So I bought a 100 ml bottle and I’m glad I did. I’m in my mid 30s and I enjoy wearing it occasionally and hope more people in their 20s and 30s can learn to try it for themselves and appreciate it. A masterpiece indeed.

I really enjoy Lapidus Pour Homme although I am only 23 so don't wear it much because of its maturity. But it's really fun to smell. Kouros definitely has some striking similarities as you pointed out. I find it a lot less sweet then Lapidus and a bit gentler on the nose. Great review Steven love your videos.

This is one of a handful i keep going back to. Something very special about it. And no, I don’t get the urinal cake vibe. On my skin, its very smooth, soapy out the shower fresh, with almost a chewy creaminess. The musk in here is dirty, but adds to the clean feeling somehow. The bottle design evokes and accompanies the fragrance perfectly.

II had both Lapidus pour homme and YSL Kouros when I was a teenager. Both hyped and beast mode frags in the 80's, but I preferred the Kouros over the Lapidus because it smelled much better and versatile in my opinion. The Lapidus was too intoxicating and flowery smelling for me.

I still have my OG bottle from when I was 13...still a beast, I almost never wore it because it is so strong...Mine has no sprayer, you dab it on...4 dabs is beyond crazy from the bottle and could potentially fill a room, easily. I can enjoy it a little more now that my nose can identify more of the notes, but this is still a parfum that gets in its own way...Beastmode forever....and I can never deicide if I hate the intense powdery dry down, or love it...But it enigmatically remains, still.... Curious if your bottle is actually from the "80's...I'm under the impression the current iterations do not smell the same....Did the OG version ever contain real civet or has it always from the beginning been synthetic? It's still hard to wear often...and although there is a lot to smell...its all a once and doesn't change too too much on my skin besides becoming fainter and more powdery. Nice review!! After all this time, the bottle is still 80% full 😂

Wrong. I am 23 and have gotten compliments. It smells different to people around you. I've even been told i smell sweet and fruity with it....

It is not an 81. "Kind of same" like the original, but the performance is far from the original. It is a same! I'm using it since 85. Likely I have one bottle of the original!

I bought YSL Kouros from the airport, they destroyed the perfume with the current reformulation, there is no longer any trace of the animalic scent that distinguished this perfume. If you owned this perfume 5-10 years ago, do not buy this reformulation, you will be very disappointed.
