Context matters. Just as much as some pop albums get thrown a 7, or figures like Ye get more heavily scrutinized due to their rep. Melon tends to be inconsistent with rating albums as a concept too, sometimes completely missing hints or failing to recognize reference or nuances that are more personal to a musical act. (this is not me necessarily agreeing with whatever score, reminder his wolf alice review sucks)

sound wise i feel like this album was a complete opposite against the blockbuster and world-building production on heaven to a tortured mind.... i usually wouldn't respect the safe switch to a minimalist sound from an artist like yves but they managed to make this album just as good or nearly better. definitely one of my faves so far this year. i also keep thinking i'm listening to mobscene by marilyn manson when that "BE! AGGRESSIVE! BE! BE! AGRESSIVE!" chant starts in operator

operator being the worst track is an opinion for sure Album has I think Yves highest highs yet, I have so much respect for how Yves consistently evolves and pushes something new and exciting. I may not feel some of it, but I still respect the effort to do something different every time. This is such a hard album to rate because the good stuff is just so damn good but it feels a little less complete compared to previous albums. 8.3/10 imo lovely album that leaves some to be desired, but who knows maybe the other tracks will grow on me too. operator did.
