If the government get their way and make coming to the UK to claim asylum a crime - having already eliminated all legal routes to get here already - then people will stop trying to apply for asylum. Can't send any illegal boat immigrant back anymore under the Dublin Regulation to another EU country in which they had already been registered or processed, so everybody now knows that once you're in the UK, they can't send you back to France.
