Slightly off-topic but something I would like to see a breakdown of the figures for is the DWP claims of fraud & error. How much is fraud, how much is error, and how much of that error is being made by the DWP?

HMRC estimates ~£1bn in "benefit fraud", which is a gross over-estimation because a considerable amount of that is probably legitimate and only "fraud" in a conservative's eyes. Why do you want to know these figures and not the figures for tax evasion which sits at (HMRC estimate:) ~£20bn or, better estimations put it closer, or over, £100bn.

The figures can be found on the gov.uk site in the “Fraud and Error in the benefit system” set of reports. There, the estimated values for 2022/23 year were: overpayments due to fraud 2.7% (£6.4bn), overpayments due to claimant error 0.6% (£1.4bn) and overpayments due to official error 0.3% (£0.6bn). There were also errors in underpayments due to claimant errors 0.9% (£2.1bn) and due to official errors 0.5% (£1.2bn). These figures are out of a total benefit expenditure of £233.8bn across 14 different types of benefits.

The DWP couldn't give you those figures. They lie. The DWP regularly lists things as "claimant error" when they are, in fact, a DWP error - the term "error" covers a multitude of sins. This only comes to light by an individual doing a Subject Access Request and reviewing the print out of what the DWP has actually logged and examining it for themselves.
