When I first heard this song in the 70s I instantly loved it. At the time I was unhappily married to my first wife, whom I divorced not long after. Ever since KZbin became a thing I looked for this song, initially without success. When I found this particular video I was struck by how Yvonne Fair was my exe's doppelganger. Not long after, I re-established contact with my estranged daughter who I hadn't seen since she was a toddler. I sent her the link to the video. We both cried -the similarity was too much to bear. I still love it in spite of the sadness.

I saw my love walking down the aisle And as he passed me by, he turned And he smiled The preacher joined their hands And all the people began to stand When I shouted: "You know that should have been me Instead of her walking with you You know that it should have been me Getting ready to marry you Darling, darling You made a promise that we'd never part And then you turned around And broke my heart Now you're standing there saying 'I do' Holding hands with somebody new It should have been me Instead of her standing by you You know that it should have been me Getting ready to say 'I do'!" Then the preacher asked, "Will there be silence, please? If any objections to this wedding Speak now or forever, forever hold your peace" Then I shouted: "It should have been me You know that it should have been me You know that it should have been me Darling, how could you do this to me?
