Wow, that's a name from the past. I remember before Val started doing frit hahaha. The glass community back in the day was pretty tight and really great for sharing of knowledge. I haven't stayed in touch with it as much since haven't been able to do it anymore. Glad to hear she's still doing it and that you're exploring more and more with glass all the time! Lovely color blend!

Nice work! I had tried something very similar a few weeks back, but just pouring frit straight into a homemade mould out of thick fibre paper. Was thinking of putting nichrome wire through it at the top and dangling a star in the gap. The star didn't really work though...

You can cover your sharpie with chapstick before cutting in your Taurus saw. Helps to keep the sharpie on. Kind of weird but really cost effective if you use your saw a lot is to by a wax toilet ring and just put it by your saw. Rub your finger on the wax and then over your sharpie. Beautiful work.

Love Love Love the Taurus. (Mine is the older Taurus !!) I can't begin to tell you how much grinder time was eliminated on oval cuts after getting this saw. Can you imagine cutting those by hand for about 25 years? It made me cranky.

Ok I’m just going to through the cards on the table your awesomeness at making jeweler is amazing. Me my wife and two of my four sons make jewelry when we were out west a few years back and took are stable at selling but not much success but we had full time jobs and didn’t have much time to devote to the jewelry thing but you rock at what you are doing. I really like the Viking wrap What something like that cost if ya don’t mind me asking. Well I’m going to shut up now keep up the good work I love it.

Cool - but would you be better off grinding to refine the shape and then fire polish.?
@deetorres4242 жыл бұрын
Maybe if you grind some of the sharp points off before you do the kiln burn

Can you reuse the scrap glass to make something new??

Hello! I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I could really use some help. I’m new to glass fusing and I’ve tried using 2 different ceramic molds for pendants. BOTH times the glass has gotten stuck. I used kiln wash both times and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Hello, Fae! I never had any luck using kiln wash on my molds, though I have read about other artists doing it. I have been using ZYP boron nitride spray from www.artglasssupplies.com I apply 4-5 coats, allowing to dry fully between applications, and I have had success with that so far. Also, once I have gotten glass stuck in a mold its just not quite the same and has higher rates of sticking no matter how careful I am with ZYP application. Don't give up!

If you put Vaseline over your sharpie lines they will stay on when you are sawing.
