I had a hard time following along because I'm new to chainmaille making and I'm super slow. So I would pause after each step and wrote a pattern for myself. It consists of "new" and "attach". New for when a new scale needs to be added and attach for when I need to connect the new scale to the scale already there that was added the previous round. It really helps me. But her instructions were very good, would not have been able to figure out the pattern if her instructions were bad.

How would you transfer from the triangle pattern into a more squarish one? Like if I wanted to make a chest piece that started with the pointed design then wanted the edges to go straight, how would I make that transition? I'm sorry if this is hard to understand, I'm not entirely sure how to describe it. Love the video though, the best tutorial by far!

Love the video! Could you do another tutorial on scale mail showing how you could make another row that was the same number of scales you used as the previous row? Like you just made a row with using 6 scales, but instead of using 5 scales for the next row you did 6.

Amazing work Yvonne, thanks for this one! I'm looking forward to seeing this costume come together, can't wait for more vids on it. Also quick question, if I were to weave a scalemaille bra, would I join it together in the same way as you did in the chainmaille bra tutorial video? Great work again, I'd love to see more ways of incorporating scales into chainmaille pieces if you ever have the inspiration! xoxo
@backtoearthcreations7 жыл бұрын
I usually have the two scale diamonds joined together with either a single scale, a mobius flower or other focal point, or have the center come together with more scales coming down into more of a breast plate. There is a variety of pictures on my deviantart: backtoearthcreations.devianatart.com that might help :)

Hi, Von! Quick question. I've seen quite a few tutorials on scalemaille so far, but they all start the same way, in the diamond or triangular pattern. How does one go about starting with a line across (to start a neckline on a shirt for example)?

How stable are the aluminum jump rings. I find them to be too delicate. Is there something I can do to harden them?
@backtoearthcreations7 жыл бұрын
Hello! You can tumble them with stainless steel shot, but also it helps to start with half hard aluminum wire if you are making your own. I highly recommend these rings: amzn.to/2guEGoC

ok quick question would it be hard to reverse it were you go from wider to smaller?
@backtoearthcreations7 жыл бұрын
Heya, Amy! It is the same concept, but it can be a bit difficult to keep the first rows stabilized. I would recommend getting the hang of going from smaller to wider before tackling wider to smaller; or attach the first row to a base of leather or chainmaille first... I am feeling another tutorial coming on, lol!
