Totally agree the the night and day difference with the pipe and flash upgrade. I also did the airbox spacer and smog block off plates at the same time. The deal with the spacer is that it's not super easy to do. If the gaskets for the box are not perfect they will not function properly. Use a couple of dabs of gasket sealer every inch or so just to hold the gasket in the track, do not gasket seal the spacer to one side of the box, it will not go in. Love the content. Man I wish they made that cargo box for the 16.

I will probably end up doing the air box spacer when I have to change my secondary air filter. Thanks for the kind words! Yeah that cargo box is awesome. I think the Yamaha cargo box looks pretty good on the 2016-2018s but the 2019+ Yamaha cargo box is pretty useless to me.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the top end your getting, I have a 21 can am turbo rr which I've had at 93mph or so, while the acceleration of my can am is much faster your hitting the top speed of any of the most powerful sxs. Also I dig the sound of the exhaust. A trick I've learned on exhaust manifold nuts is to use copper ones they don't loosen back up I got ones that have a slit in them that I think acts like a locking bolt never had one come back out after changing them to copper.

@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Жыл бұрын
Yeah it has 4x4 and 4x4 with differential lock. The yxz doesn’t have a low gear though so it’s not ideal for rock crawling or deep mudding. It can do those things but it’s a bit more violent since it’s high speed 4wd. The 4wd and diff lock work great for normal trail riding and dunes. It’s always got me out of everything I’ve come across. I don’t go in bottomless mud though.

Did you consider the Weller Racing tune?
@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don’t think you can go wrong with PWRtune, Weller or Alba tunes all of them are huge improvements from stock. The appeal of the PWRtune to me was that it was reversible for free and undetectable for warranty work. The other tune companies may offer that same service but they don’t advertise it. If I would’ve went with a Weller exhaust I would probably have went with the Weller tune.

@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Hey! So I’m stuck between Dasa and Trinity but I noticed your comment on how you didn’t like the sound. Could you elaborate on that? Pwrtune has a Trinity and ecu setup for a good price so I was thinking about going that route but wanna know your thoughts.

I see in your previous videos you have a trinity exhaust. Now that you’ve had both dasa and trinity , which do you recommend?
@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Жыл бұрын
I really love the Dasa exhaust. The Trinity sounds pretty good. I have only driven the yxz with the Trinity exhaust around the yard a few times. Can’t really tell you which one is louder. I plan on doing a video comparing the two exhausts but the Trinity yxz is apart currently because I’m welding in the Rayscar designs gusset kit. If I had to buy the Dasa exhaust again I would probably go with the GYTR exhaust. It’s the same exhaust but it has a better decal. The dasa decal looks cooler but it looks terrible after a while due to heat and mud.
@fuzzy176 Жыл бұрын
Hi i like your videos I would like to know if the dasa exhaust is loulder then the trinity stage 5 cause i am looking for a exhaust whit a low tone Thankyou
@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Жыл бұрын
I have both of those exhausts. I haven’t used the Trinity exhausts much yet. I am going to make a comparison video on the two exhausts very soon. The Dasa is very loud and has a great sound. I absolutely love it. The quality of the Dasa is better too. The Trinity only has 2 bolts holding the muffler to the frame, it has springs holding it together and it puts the exhaust very close to the tail light plastic. The Dasa isn’t perfect either but my only complaint about The Dasa is that their logo on the muffler gets discolored over time. But they sell new ones for $5. I’ll try to record that video ASAP so you can check out the differences. I have a few more videos lined up before that one but it should be out soon.

@FilthyKnobsOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
I think you would be happy with that tune and exhaust. Weller is a great company. I was gonna go with Weller but their exhaust tips were red at the time and I didn’t think it would look good on my blue machine. I followed the break in period recommendations perfectly and did not do the exhaust and tune until after that period. I want my machine to last as long as possible. A few long trail rides should get you to 500 miles pretty quick. It’s just hard to keep your rpm’s down when you just really want to rip.

Is it better to send it out to have tuned or buy a home flash tune kit to write over ECU?
@FilthyKnobsOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
For me it was better to send it out. The tunes from the aftermarket companies are maxed out as far as you should go and maintain reliability and keep your engine safe. I am sure if you got a tuner to tune it yourself you could get a bit more power out of it but I feel that you could easily mess something up. I don’t know enough about tuning to feel comfortable doing it myself. I know some tuners allow you to download different pre-made tunes. Those might be a good option but I I didn’t want to deal with that.
@adrianosantos-pb2ev2 жыл бұрын
Pwrtune better than weller? Idk what way to go and how you feel about trinity stage 5 , great video btw 👏
@FilthyKnobsOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried the Weller tune. I went with PWRtune mainly because I had a 3 year warranty and didn’t want to void it. PWRtune will tune back to stock for free and it’s untraceable. You do have to pay the $20 or so shipping to ship your ecu though. I have loved the PWRtune reflash. It’s the best mod I’ve done to my yxz hands down. I wouldn’t be afraid to go with a Weller tune though they definitely know their stuff. I’m sure the Weller tune is similar. PWRtune, Weller and Alba had pretty similar HP gains. The Trinity kit is nice for a budget kit but the slip on exhaust doesn’t give as good of exhaust flow as a full aftermarket system. My buddy has the Trinity slip on and he ended up buying the Alba header for slip on exhausts trying to get more power and better sound. Thanks man!
@javierangel92962 жыл бұрын
Do you have to tuned it or can you just bolt on
@FilthyKnobsOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
Some guys run just a slip on. I’ve heard that it will run lean and could damage your engine. You are supposed to get a tune or a fuel controller when you add an aftermarket exhaust. The tune is really where you get the added power and removing the speed limiter. I would really suggest doing the exhaust and tune together.
@adventurebikerider76463 жыл бұрын
Hi, Great video. I read that you are meant to upgrade piston and rings etc, do you really need to do that with just the stage 3 power kit? Eg exhaust and tune?
@FilthyKnobsOffRoad3 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Thank you! No I have never heard of anyone needing to upgrade engine components for just an exhaust and tune. Especially on the 2019+ YXZs with the better rods and engine components. I have a ton of friends with YXZs of all years with a stage 3 tune and they have been nothing but reliable. I’ve had mine tuned for 1,500 miles and it’s been great. Zero issues. On the 2019+ yxz you can even run the gytr turbo without having to upgrade any engine components. I believe you only need those upgrades when your running a big turbo with a lot of boost.

The yxz is as close as you can get to a rally car. With an exhaust and tune you feel like Ken Block in the Gymkhana two Subaru Impreza STI. It shifts at 9,000+ rpm, you can drop a gear and whip around corners and shifting is real fun. I would really like to try an RS1. They look a lot lighter and more agile. I think it would be a blast but for me part of the fun of a SXS is scaring the hell out off passengers. The yxz is really reliable and you don’t have to monitor belt temps so you can just rip. I have seen them. I didn’t really notice a lot of difference other than color. But I also didn’t look into them real hard because I already have a yxz. The 1000r is the manual version with a clutch pedal and you have to shift with the shifter in the center console. The 1000r SS is the sport shift and it is still a manual but you use the paddles on the wheel to shift so you can drive with both hands. The SS models only have 2 pedals(gas and Brake) the yxz computer automatically applies the clutch for you but it is still a true manual. The special edition usually has beadlock rims, dual rate shocks and sometimes the led lights in the front and center console. The XTR model has the more aggressive tires, winch and bumpers as well as the beadlock rims.
