My bike did the same thing, 04’ YZ125. When it happened it wound up cracking the cylinder head. Replaced the cylinder head and the issue was still there. Turned out the band clamp on my air box was loose and it was sucking in too much air. Fixed the band clamp and the issue went away. Too much air…

Your throttle cable could be not adjusted right so where the twist grip is as far back as I goes the slide is still up, change it to where the slide is down. I had this exact problem with my old ct175

I SWEAR TO GOD FIND THE CABLE AT THE DAMN CARBURETOR FOLLOW IT UP TO THE GRIP… if it’s not twisted up the thing that actually twists the cable is the wrong size buddy did it once and almost killed the both of us don’t remember what it’s called but if you replace the end piece of the cable it will run perfect after a carb tune exhaust and the right gas mixture

same thing happened to my friends 90 yz125, put a new spark in to see if there was any combustion, got an insane 2 stroke runaway at hardline for 1 min and 20 seconds. tried everything: kill switch, 2x4 over carb intake, taking of the spark boot. saved it in the end by ripping the fuel line off, it was safe bc there was nothing in the tank at that point anyway. its caused by gaskets and crank seals, both of which we found out were absolutely destroyed. before and after. this is runaway, not idle, idle screw wont help sadly. but we found out that the engine was almost perfectly fine after the runaway, even with little to no oil. (thanks wiseco). best thing to do is get new gaskets and crank stuff. edit: why is mane sagging more than his melted crank 😭😭😭

You probably have the airbox off carb need to have that connected or a air intake put on try start it and cover carb end leaving a small amount of air to go in your idle will go down if it does then connect the factory airbox and make sure the boot doesnt have holes or ripped same high idle will happen just happened to me had a torn air boot

mine had the same problem but besides when i was cleaning the carb my throttle pin wouldn’t go back in and what was wrong was the little part where you stick your throttle slide pin thing that goes into the carburetor and it slides in, it was bent we bent it back and it was fine, it slid in and it fixed everything
