The larger fender will make sense when you ride through all the deep mud you and Jerry seem to find. Looks like you're moving pretty good too. I was eyeing the sled in the video. Won't be long before you shift to it for your weekly post. Snowed here in upstate NY yesterday. It's 27 outside right now but I plan to get a rides on the GSA and the KLR in today.

Could you take the LED bracket off and 'profile' the bracket a bit with a grinder, so the fender fits without washers? Also, I would not be concerned at all about cooling issues, lots of rad exposed. -5*C today (Oct 31) here in South Eastern Ontario and had snow once already. My sleds are in pre-season 'tune-up' status now. I think the XT200 might be close to finished for the season. Might get one or two more days riding if lucky.
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 3 жыл бұрын
I thought about it but I'm a bit to lazy and have already forgotten about the washers to be honest haha. That's my thought too, plenty of radiator on both sides to catch the wind, should be just fine. I've got some parts in already to fix my hot belt issue on the sled! Going over to Jason's tomorrow to work on the crossfire with him too actually!

I'm not sure which look I like better. I like the OEM fender down low and you really get that REALLY quintessential dakar look but it also looks more dirt worthy with the big up high fender too

Stock fender guy chiming in - the slow speeds and low air flow is my guess for the temps. I get those temps even on cool days when I'm just putting around looking at the scenery. Clean 'er out and you should be fine. That sumo fender also had some vents cut in it and I don't think that'd be a bad idea for the new fender.
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I thought about cutting slots in the new one but I'm hoping I can get away with out it to block all the dirt and water.

Wire a toggle switch inline in the hot wire to the fan, Ben, and you can turn the fan on when you're riding at slow speeds off road or in town to stop it from getting too warm ion the first place....Just make sure that you're drawing power from a "keyed" source. Jus' sayin'.

A dirty KLR650 is one thing, but a dirty Tenere 700 just doesn't seem right! At least keep it clean until 2021. Since it is a 2021. I got one with about 3,500 miles on it now. Awesome freaking bike! Another issue you're going to notice with that high Fender is at high speeds it can cause turbulence and potential head shake. Not necessarily just with that bike but it's been noted by many riders of many models at higher speeds. That lower Fender is much more aerodynamic as you probably know.
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha I'll probably wash it up before the winter but I don't think it'll see much soap and water.... I'll be to busy getting it dirty haha. I'll watch for that, haven't noticed anything yet but I'm not sure I did any high speeds in a straight line since I installed it, just curvy back roads so far.

@SwankyCatProductions

I still feel sort of uneasy on the Tenere, just not enough saddle time yet. But I think once I have a bit more time on it and feel more at home on it, like I did with the KLR, it'll be an awesome experience. Its already soooo much more fun on the road, and while it'll take some practice off road I'm already really impressed with it. I'm definitely excited to see what they are going to come out with too!

So far they aren't quite as grippy as my K270s but are still very good off road. The only thing more impressive than the off road capabilities is how they feel on road. As meaty as they are, they are SOLID on the pavement. I feel like I'm back on a sport bike on road!

I've had a pointy fender like that one on the klr...jokes on me, it was horrible. Head lights were constantly covered in junk. Went with a yz fender. Forget which year but it was as good as the stock one but more rigid. Oh and because of yz forks the klr fender will not fit.😋 Looks more old school👌

Ive had a question about how the low fenders? does your tire sucks up a rock. does the rock or tree suck up with the traction an get caught into those low fairing fenders. i got to see an 700 tenere for the first time and it does seem like a dirt worthy vehicle but it seemed like that vehicle was more fire road amicable rather than a dirt worthy. i know you have made it more dirt worthy but i just stress if someone with a 1200 gs could compare? hell i saw a 1200gs today and i wonder with out crash bars how it could that take offroading capability. now a days i see so many adventure bikes and i wonder if that is truly an adventure bike. i don't disclude the tenere, but does it have the take it off road capabilities?

I think the low fender is just to fit in with the "adventure bikes". My Tenere doesn't feel quite as home off road as my KLR did, but I think it'll just take some getting used too. It certainly feels just as capable of not a good amount more then my dad's XC800 Tiger and people do some crazy things with that bike. It'll take me a while but I anticipate being just as fast, if not faster off road with the Tenere after some practice. However, I'm already waaaaay faster on road with the Tenere. This bike is soooo much fun!

Factory engineers spend a lot of time testing and making sure the bike in stock form will work best. Just sayin’......
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 3 жыл бұрын
True, but the marketing department tells the engineers and designers what they think the customers want. And if they think the customers want a low fender... doesn't mean it had to be that way. Granted the radiator was probably sized to have all free air to it... Unless the engineers knew some costumers would actually want high fenders and sized it accordingly...
