Hi so what was the verdict? Bad crank? I have a 2016 and found a bunch of aluminum bits in the oil screen. Has me worried.
@slavsquad
@slavsquad Жыл бұрын
The shavings for me were my own fault for drilling and fixing one of the case half’s after chain went through the case. I believe it then seized the crank. Possibly clogged the oil pump and didn’t get oil to the crank. Run oil through a few times and see if you still have the shavings🤷🏻‍♂️

Would I necessarily need a torque wrench?
@slavsquad
@slavsquad 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shane. In my opinion If your working on a more expensive bike then it’s definitely necessary. Something as simple as over tightening or under tightening can cost you a lot of money in the long run. I will say that when I was younger I never used one on my little pit bikes and haven’t had an issue but it’s not the smartest way to go. When it comes to exterior I don’t stress to much about a torque wrench Torque wretches are quite easy to get your hands on if you have an o’Reillys in your town or a auto parts store that offer rentals. O’Reillys lets you rent it it but they return your money once you bring the tool back.

Torque wrenches are a must if you are going to do your own maintenance. Every time I remove the wheels on my car, I would use a large torque wrench and torque the lug nuts to spec. Buy a small and a large one. The small ones go up to 30 ft/lb. The large ones go from 30 to 150 fl/lbs. I use the large one way more often than the small one. They are a good investment are relatively cheap.

Hey what kinda of grease did you use in the head bolts?
@slavsquad
@slavsquad 2 жыл бұрын
I used a general assembly lube for the rebuild. I don’t remember using any grease on the head bolts.

That’s an aftermarket piece. I bought the bike with it so unfortunately I don’t know where it came from but I believe it’s a Boyesen part
