Not sure but that is possible. It was in decent condition for it's age.

Surprised to see ball bearings in the steering head of a bike of this vintage - most have tapered roller bearings. I can't wait to see this one completed! Have you been able to get some riding in on the FZ750 you finished?

Yes, past summer I have done some riding on the FZ. I am happy with it. The engine runs smoothly, however the gearbox is a bit stubborn. Might need a new front tire also. But I can live with it. After all it is over 30 years old technology. For the YZF it might take some time to complete it, motivation too low to work in a cold workshop right now. Thanks for your comment.

@@jh-tech5546 I had shifting problems with my 84 FJ1100 back in the day - turned out to be quite common. It was hard to shift from 1st to 2nd and when in 2nd under heavy load, it would pop into neutral. Embarrassing! Getting cold here too - just bought a propane heater and it works very well. I have my FZR1000 Genesis completely apart now and getting the anodizing stripped off the frame. Finally found a bearing supplier for all the swing arm parts too. Pretty happy! Keep plugging away...we all can't wait to see this one done.

@@jh-tech5546 Had similar issue with the FZ gearbox. Although you did a great job in rebuilding the entire clutch line of the FZ I myself used a braided steel hydraulic line instead of the original. That improved the situation.

@@TriAngles3D OK nice! Thanks for the tip. So basically the clutch is not disengaging enough. That might be a good explanation.

@@jh-tech5546 Correct. Once the clutch action is sufficient the gearbox will work just fine. I would also make sure the length of the clutch rod that goes into the crankcase has the correct length.
