Z-52 - Competitive At Last

The concealment buff to the Z-52 seems small at first, but actually drastically changes the way the ship plays as it can finally effectively contest capture points, becoming one of the strongest capture point bullies in the game! As usual you can find my recommended build at the end.

There's this problem when you carry a team, and that's what Flamu did here, where you can only get support by providing your team very weakened targets. These sorts of players who habitually secure kills and maintain a lower level of decision making should be less rewarded.

Wasn't very excited about the German DD line from the start, but ground through the tier seven anyway. Very excited to see this on the test server and will definitely finish grinding to the ten now.

Pleasure to be in this game with you Flamu, I have to blow some smoke up my arse here but the reason your team took an age getting from C through B was in large part due to my delaying action in the Ognevoi, I was just as frustrated with my team at A taking ages as well haha! I'd always take Adrenaline Rush over Demolition Expert on this ship TBH. It costs a point less and gives 0 to 1.4% of extra fires depending on current health. Given that German DDs eat a lot of damage from everything plus knife fight in caps getting some kind of bonus from AR is pretty much a given. Apart from the fire chance the extra reload obviously buffs HE DPM itself, it buffs the AP DPM, it buffs the torps and heck it even buffs the AA however inconsequential that might be. So while the deminishing return on the torp reload is fact it also doesn't hurt to shorten the reload. Every now and then it will give the option to do a move that wouldn't otherwise be possible. I'd argue that AR synergises very well with DE into a DoT build for the Z-52. It's fairly light on survivability though, don't know if it can be handled or is too squishy with only one of the options of RPF, SE or SI.

Eduardo Elipe The Z46 is fine at tier IX. I'm not a unicum player, yet after the full grind, I maintained a 60% win rate on it. To me, it's a keeper.

Question for you Flamu. I'm on the Z-46 grind right now, working towards the Z-52. You're running propulsion mod 1 on your build. I have an engine boost mod 1 that slots into there for 50% longer engine boost time. Given that these ships seem to be built for charging other DD's that think their smoke makes them safe, would the long engine boost be a viable module to run?

I appreciate that this is an old video, but I still feel the need to point out that what you said about "diminishing returns" when using the torpedo reload mod on german DDs is completely false. A 15% decrease in reload time means 15% more torpedo DPM no matter what the reload time was to begin with... There are no diminishing returns.

Flamu I have a suggestion for a video series, you pick a line, make a commentary on the best ship in the line in your opinion and contrast it with the worst ship. Personal favourite will be how you deal with the IJN BB line with this approach.

your comment about diminishing returns not really applicable here. Torps are cyclical and therefore a 10% benefit is a small magnitude on a single reload but ultimately 10% more torp spam across the duration of the match.

i 'd trade demolition expert for Jack of all trades and priority target. jack of all trades may not increase your dps. but it raises the frequency of your Hydro/smoke cap contest. also improving fire chances on HE that are already crappy is not what i would call a proper Min/max

They are competitive, especially after the stealth fire nerf. They have some black sheep in the line but nothing too terrible. The torps are okay and the guns can be useful in a duel. The Z-52 is the king though because he is the only one with the German long range hydro, the rest only got the normal one.

Instead of buffing her, WG just hammer the others. Now no one can say anything about German DD firing bloom being a weakness anymore. Though the concealment buff is very welcomed.

Adrenaline Rush (still hate that skill for the flavor, but whatever) should be straight up superior to Torpedo Armament Expertise with your play style. Since you seem to like to go HAM and contest caps early, it's quite likely you will be trading away some HP early on for a cap and possibly a kill (like you did in this match). At 50% HP, AR provides the same bonus reload as TAE and it also helps your guns. And it's one point less. What's not to like about that?

Ignore this. you make a lot of mention to German DD HE being weaker which got me thinking- shouldn't IFHE be a great skill to get? considering German HE already pens armour 1/4 the diameter as opposed to all other nations where the ratio is 1/6? I haven't actually checked armour pen values so idk how thick deck armour at T10 is, but if it works, I'm sure it'd make an interesting build

yaseen reza that he damage upgrade is only for BB(secondaries included) and Graf Spee. that said... points wise you may be better off using expert reload+Demo Expert for the same point value as IFHE. The He damage is kinda lacking for it to be spammed exclusively and then there is the lost fire starting chance. better to just use your A when you can and use HE to trigger fires with your torp flooding. or get something completely different like RDF.

Not at all if the Khaba player is smart he'll just stay at range and pound the Z-52 with his 8 guns while tanking damage with the 50mm armor plating. And the Z-52 will never catch up because the Khab is so much faster. Even at close range, the Khab's armor plating gives it a solid chance to win the fight.
