Z FLIP 6: FIRST TIME? (FULL REVIEW!)

I just chatted with samsung support and downloaded the Messages. That cracking sound is NORMAL on Flip or Fold Devices. There are different Parts of plastik combined in the Hingeframe and different layers over and under the screen, which have to be soften or loose, to keep movement going. This Kombination ist the reason of Noisy hinge. To those, who claim they have no noises: clean ur ears 🤣 every fold or flip has that. I also checked the different devices in samsung store; EVERY device has these sounds. Just hear exactly

Mine's making creaking noise too. I don't think it's the hinge. It's the screen/glass/protector layer that's making the noise

Mine too and it does sound like glass cracking, but just at the start off of folding and and at almost open point.

just noticed ... very faint ick ick ick about midway ... the 5 makes no noise. i would guess it is the thicker plastic/glass making a noise and it is not an issue ... yet

I have my zflip6 for the past 6 days and I don't hear anything at all in the hinge area when I flip it open and close. You may want to have yours checked by Samsung and possibly have it replaced.

@TheParamutt it is faint .. i hear it but not on the 5 ... it does not have to be a problem ... i have warranty and usually trade in after a year anyway

ZFlip 5 user here, after 11 months of usage I had several issues : 1. Hinge making creaking noise 2. The phone when open, was not flat 3. from the top left of the screen seems crumpled marks it's noticable under the sun light or flashlight. I thought it was screen protector from samsung but it wasn't cz after I removed the screen protector the crumpled marks was still there. 4. Left side uneder the middle of the screen, the hinge bumped out so the screen looks like having a pimple 😂 Now my Z Flip 5 has been repaired, got full body and screen replacement, now everything working just fine, when I open now the phone fully flat, and no creaking noise. I will reconsider to extend my samsung care+ now haha.

3:52 Gorilla Glass Victus only applies on the Cover Screen and Back Glass. Inner screen uses thicker Ultra Thin Glass (UTG)

I don't hear the opening crackle on my flip6. I do hear a click when I close it, unless I close it very slowly. Also, mine doesn't kinda snap to the fully open position like yours. I upgraded from a flip4 and I'm loving the 6's cover screen. It seemed like the 4 had a better tent-ability. It had a sort of catch point about a half inch from closed. When I open the 6 it just keeps trying to shut itself until I open it about twice as far, then I can push it back a little without it shutting. Thanks for all the great videos. Those wallpapers look tempting.

Hmmmm so yours is more inclined to close? That sounds like most hinges since the 3rd generation, which were admittedly pretty hard to open with one hand. My 6 is super easy to open with one hand, hence that looseness but also has a distinct click after a certain point. Yeh the 6 cover display is a MAJOR upgrade over the 4 and I'm sure the battery too is stellar plus a phenom of a processor. I'll keep checking around for hinge information and see if there are some qc issues.

My 6 has zero noise when opening/closing and it also doesn't "snap to open" at the final point of opening like yours either. I would definitely have it looked at. Mine is absolutely perfect and quiet.

@ChilledFossilofficial there is so much extra bits to keep out dust lots of little rubber bits around the hinge that can more or push in, the bezel is shiny plastic for some reason dust can go under that bezel, I have baby the screen and I can't hand my phone to anyone without a bit of worry, once you drop it you have to pray it can open again if it can the hinge is going to be offset, for some reason the T they used for the hinge gets my cloths string caught in it, I can't take it anywhere outdoors cause dirt or sand enters some where and it crunches in the hinge so I have to blow it out, the screen protector gets bubbles under the hinge I ended up taking mine off, I'm on my 3rd one cause it kept braking after one fall I'm venting, but too much worry for a gimmick feature

Hinge issues can also come about from drops, and you mentioned you've dropped it several times. Mine has no noises, and I've had it for 2 weeks.

This is the closest they've come to perfecting it, it is miles ahead of my zflip3 that i upgraded from, if ypu're skeptical because of your old one, dont be. Its way better than the 3, 4, and 5.

@@ChilledFossilofficial definitely was, mines had a bubble in the crease and the crease was very obvious/felt whenever you scrolled or ran your finger across it. Now on the new one it’s not as obvious, they did a great job with reducing the crease, the new outside display is great as well. Overall they did a great job with this generation and I’m glad I was able to upgrade with the preorder promo, they basically gave me the phone for free, the credits will zero out my monthly charge for the phone and they gave me 1100 for my flip 3 which had a bubble and dust in the crease but the promo is any year, any phone and any condition so they didn’t care about the damage to the phone. Samsung also did a great job with the preorder process, I got my phone same day as the release date and I ordered it two days before release date. Very satisfied with this phone, I use it as a secondary device but I feel that I will use it more than my iPhone now with the vast improvements that they have made this time around.

I got my flip 6 and started using on Sunday. On Friday, the inside screen totally broke. It started with the white cracking line in the middle at the crease then big white vertical line in the center of screen. Not too long after that the whole phone went crazy. It seems like i was pressing something like ghost pressing all over my screen. I cannot use the phone at all from the inside screen. I called Samsung and return it right away. I was very disappointed. I love the phone but it broke within one week of using. I want to get a replacement but I was afraid the screen will give me a problem again. Do you think this is a common problem in the flip or did I just got a bad one? Should I get another flip or should I just avoid it totally?

Still prefer the S series as lve never had any issues with it whatsoever and l dont have to worry about any cropping up within 7 years of its updates. Plus lm loving my Sandstone Orange and have had many compliments on it..

430 is sad and yeh the 6 is doing better but not an insane amount yet - I'm thinking it's the optimization, usually it takes some time for it to optimize to mu use, usually 1-2 weeks but rarely a month. I'm working on that video to go over long term usage but week 1 is not the best battery performance

Oo it doesn't open as flat? Wonder what could be going on then? Is there misalignment when you close it? See antenna bands are lined up when closed had that issue with the zf5

I had to return my z flip 6 twice as both had the terrible creaking noise coming from the hi ge when i opened the flip. I got a refund and then bought the 512gb latest production version and this piece is noiseles. No cracking soul sicking noise like the bad batch i got earlier.

Also considering to switch to flip phone BUT Then why flip phone when there are so many problems over normal? Besides just more compact ONLY. As it's not as durable, the camera is not better, u already need to repair or replace the screen after a year ? Why flip ?

I’m currently saving for the flip 6. I haven’t gotten a warranty on any phones I’ve had so far but for this phone, I feel you need it. I feel people have to look at the Samsung care as a mandatory thing when it comes to these flip phones. They are cool! But at the end of the day each year is a trial to perfect the concept.

At the beginning I also got a flip 6 that had the same noise. I contacted Samsung and they replaced it for me because they think that this noise is not normal. I got my new flip6 yesterday and it is completely quiet so no more noise you should contact Samsung Best regards

That's normal only for the first setup. Also, the battery will drain a little more than normal for the first few days while your phone is learning your usage.

It's definitely more flat when open. The camera accents come down to taste, but it emphasizes the ugliest part of the phone. It also serves as a reminder that Samsung is behind Motorola with cover screen design. The audio is superior on Flip 5, far superior with wired IEMs.

After a week with my new z flip 6 I can report that the hinge is still very quiet. No creaking like yours. My issues are with the OS. My golf game app will randomly close. Has done this 3 times now. Google maps froze on me and the inner screen quit responding to touches. I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. But I find it unacceptable for a brand new device with the latest processor.

@@ChilledFossilofficial update. After a soft reset (power button + down volume) the phone has been mostly bug free. However my hinge has started to creek sometimes but only when it sits closed for a while.
