Cool jams! These crusty old geezer amps are where it’s at. Just you and your instrument, with no modern compression or gain to hide behind.

I'm torn between this amp and the DR Z Nova. What one does the Bakersfield sound better? Thanks keep up the great videos!

Sounds glorious! Only thing for me is for an amp in that price range, drop a reverb in the thing! But I guess pedals work too 😉 Also shows you how good just an SM57 can sound on a guitar amp!

The sound of that recording through a SM 57 surprised me as well, sounded excellent the "craftsman not the tools".

The price reflects the fact that it's a hand built/handwired amp. He even uses better mounting hardware in the chassis, instead of cheap self-tapping screws that results in only a few chassis removals that then result in stripping out. ALL Dr. Z amps made today use the better mounting hardware, so the chassis ( if needed ) can be removed & re-installed into the cabinet without any worries........basically forever. Top quality tubes that are hard to come by, as most amp techs have just about given up on sourcing the really good "new/old stock" tubes. But Dr. Z found THE source for tubes.......same with output transformer for this particular amp. That transformer is exact spec to the 50's era amps, and up till now, haven't been made since.......until he contacted the company himself. Even the speakers are custom built by his request. These are basically custom/boutique amps at a very reasonable price. Built to last.......and with true vintage tone that is fairly hard to come by in mass produced amps.
