Z Scale Rokuhan vs Marklin Turnout Functionality Difference

This video describes a very basic yet important difference in functionality for the two top z scale track manufacturers. Rokuhan's turnouts allow isolation between one section of track via their power routing … however, it leads to stalls/short circuits that can damage your locomotive if the turnout orientation is not in the right direction. Marklin's turnouts have a very light spring load and as such, most locomotives can simply push the point out of the way if it is not aligned with the direction of the train's travel.

Actually also accounts for Roco switches, box will flash red and cuts the power. So the switch should always be positioned in the direction the train is going to go, or positioned to from where the train is coming from in 2 rail.

Best to not run thru switches. Good for 30 day suspension at a class one.

Hello Thanks for the video I'm going to set up a circuit with Rokuhan I want to automate it but I have a question Do the turnouts work with 12 -10 V DC? Can the current pulse be a constant switch type or an instantaneous push-button type? Thank you
