What about the Perrin strut tower brace? Did you notice any difference? As I think I've mentioned (and lots of KZbin videos to back it up with) I have a similarly modified Gen2 car. How are you comparing to Spec Miata times? I'm as fast or faster than pole sitters at some tracks. That, without Hoosiers.

I haven’t driven the car on the track yet. I believe I’m faster then the Spec Miata at Sebring without Hoosier.

After watching a lot of your videos the GR86 platform looks formidable! I think 100-150+ more hp you’ll be a track weapon; can’t wait to see more! P.S. If you do more chase videos such as this one, I think placing the footage in a landscape format rather than portrait format is nicer since we viewers are able to see more of the track and what’s going on. Just makes viewing more enjoyable especially on phones.

I told you a few months ago that I had a brand new 2008 C6 Z06 back in March of 2008. Now I have a GR86 that I successfully track. The C6 Z06 was a nightmare to drive, back them there was no tires to pick from, only Nitto Invo and that is it!!! The GR86 you can drive it fast all the time specially with the track mode that allows you to truly slide without doing a full 180. What I liked about the Z06 was the crazy torque and power at any gear at any speed at any RPMS. The braking was also really good. What I hated it was the seats, the mediocre tires and how easy was to lose the rear end. Mine had a lot of work done(heads, headers, cam, custom tune, porting) a few months later and I was running a 13:1 compression ration, 7600 rpms (75 mph in first and 100 mph in second gear for instance) but it was undriveable. If you had the traction control on it would limit the power. If you have it off or semi-off it would want to lose the rear all the time. A friend of mine just sold his Yellow C6 Z06, he was driving 100 TW tires on the street and he went off track several times at Inde Motorsports and struggle at Atessa racetrack. The GR86 feels much better at the track.
@phelpsgarage42029 ай бұрын
Yeah, I could imagine having that much power would be a handful on track. The GR86 is a slow car you can drive fast and for the most part feel pretty comfortable at the limit. Now I just need a little more power for the straight, and I think it would be a perfect all-around car
@rs3tuber4259 ай бұрын
@@phelpsgarage4202 We just ran 255 RE71s on Koseis 17x8 with excellent results. Now we are on Khumo V730. We only have Hakws DTC-60s and Castro fluid. So far apparently that is enough to have placed three times first place and one time third place on the last 4 HPDE/Time attack. the time that we did not finished first we lost to a fully built GR86 and a highly track modded S2000. The GR86 is one of the best track cars that there is, unfortunately they targeted this car for mid power/torque market. It only has 215 tires from factory. Imagine this car with about 300hp and at least 235 or 245s from factory.

A car that's too unforgiving isn't as much fun as a car you can push hard and still feel like it's controllable.
@FL50ssp7 ай бұрын
C6 Z06 is near 50/50 WD with excellent chassis balance and control in stock form. Sounds like in your case it was too much car for you at that time. Too bad you can't drive it today and then jump into your gr86. My guess? You'd feel differently about C6 Z06. Have to agree on the crap street tires back then. And we both know how important tires are now, don't we?
@rs3tuber4257 ай бұрын
@@FL50ssp I raced this past Sunday at Atessa(Podium club) on HDPE3. The C8 blue Vet 200 yards ahead of me spun and did a 180, he had to wait for everyone. That is a brand new C8 with mid mounted engine and big tires. My guest? cold tires . I have the video from my own car.

Love that you are pushing the GR86 platform. HP masks a whole lot of driving inadequacy. I, personally, would rather drive a 'slow' car fast and at its limits rather than drive a 'fast' car slow and just hit the gas on the straights and delude myself that I am a better driver than reality would dictate. No bust against your friend as he doesn't have the seat time you do, but your efforts show what a well seasoned driver can do in something with less HP. That BMW driver needs to get the heck out of your way...that is a perfect case in point as to an inadequate driver that can hit the gas on the straights and stay ahead but also crush your lap times where actual driving counts (the corners). Yep, it's a track day...take your licks. On an actual race day, a gentle nudge gets the 'problem' off track and out of the way so you can carry on with what will be an overall faster lap time. Love the content. Keep up the good work.
@phelpsgarage42028 ай бұрын
I 100% agree with that statement and yes it’s more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Eventually once he gets more seat time that car is going to be fast

Looks like an awesome car, and nice driving. I'd say touch the blue curbing at 7, faster you can point straight there the better, certainly when you don't have that much hp. Turn 17 I think is your biggest opportunity to reduce the lap time. Where you are hitting the brake is good but you're on them a little too long. You should try to roll a little more speed to the bridge. Ideally not feeling like you need to pick up the throttle till you get there. You can see your track out of 17 onto the front stretch is pretty nonchalant because of it. Probably about 1 second to gain there.

You need to put your friend in the slower gr86 since he doesn't have the balls to progress his driving skill in the vette and you take his car and progress your driving skill in the much more capable car. Then you can make a video of how much you improved your lap times from first to last session bc this comparison is silly as I stated in your previous video, these cars are two totally different classes as are you and your friend
