I was backstage at this show. Got a pass because of lugging some equipment from a Kingfish show. I was offered 10$ but asked for a pass if and when the Dead regrouped after the hiatus. Scully gave me the pass after filling him in. I got there early about 3 pm and Jerry was somewhere behind the stage playing.I didn't bother him , just sat on a bench and listened. Jerry got done and wandered out and over to where I was and sat down next to me , looked at me and said " Howdy" . We talked for a few minutes until Weir , Keith and Donna and Phil walked in and they did a soundcheck. Phil was with a chick from the University of Alabama that he had met the night before. She and I talked some during the show standing against the equipment behind Keith and Phil. That was a great night but believe it or not as happy as i was to be backstage the show sounded better to me years later on tape than it did that night. However it was a blast and a great memory. I saw my 1st shows in Boston, Hartford and Providence but moved to Atlanta in 76 and will always treasure the shows at the Fox. My Favorite Theatre, saw Bob Marley and Lowell with Little feat there as well.

+Rob Maurice wasn't being that familiar with cultural icons , i.e. the Dead a blast!! my God do I know what it felt like, because I had intimate knowledge of the GD in 1969 - I was 19 years old and Bobby Weir liked me so I got in at the concert, onstage and backstage...onward to hotel room in the band's limo. For two days all I was able to do was get high and wonder at my "karma" because I didn't know how special I was till that weekend in Porchester! So, I know what that feels like and then some!!!

I had tickets for the first night of an earlier scheduled date for these shows that was postponed. Was out of town and didn't hear that it was rescheduled until the day after the first show. Called the Fox and explained, they said come to the will call window and get ticks for the second show. Did that, and found the seats at the dead (heh) center of the front row of the balcony. That was the best seats for the best concert I ever saw.

This is the quintessential version of Sugaree. So effortless from Jerry. Somewhere between heaven and earth lies this music that fills the air...into the cosmos...the roof of the tiny old Fox lifts off and exposes the night sky...stars...and moon...

This one is my baby. 3/25/85 is awesome. 9/2/80 is amazing. 3/27/95 is the best Sugaree of the nineties (perhaps bc I was there; but check it out, holy God!!). But THIS one...This one, in the year of so many great Sugaree's (77').. is the best by far.

my friend was backstage for a Dead show and he had a very big piece of hash....Jerry saw him and ask him if he could see it...my friend handed the hash to Captain Trips and Jerry took a really big bite out of it...as Jerry handed the hash back to my friend...they both had a good laugh...MISS YOU BOTH....GRATEFUL ROB

Oh may of '77. You make me proud to be born 5/14/77. Must've been some strange rippin tradewinds driftin thru. My parents may have beeen listening to conway twitty and willie n waylon, but jerry, I still found you. Hence we call it home. Because we feel we are at home in ourselves. Thus the appeal of the dead for me.

Super easy-groove song. I did see them once at The Santa Barbara Bowl, a small outdoor event. Elvin Bishop Band also played and possibly even Warren Zevon. Wish I could find out about that...Rock on...Ed

i also think 71-74 is prime dead. but this also happens to be my fave sugaree. that's the thing about loving this band...any given song on any given night...they left gems scattered across decades for us to find and thrill our souls.
