This is my long term ownership review of my z900rs. (2020 Model) I've also recently added new 'Leo Vince' header pipes and included some clips of the sound! This is a follow up video from when I first bought the bike and just started my KZbin adventures. Let me know how you think I went. The video was filmed on my GoPro but all the editing was done on my phone through an app. 👍

Thanks mate. My Uncle had a 74 z9 back in the late 80's same colour and my Dad had a GPZ750 and a wicked sounding Ducati in the 90's when I was a young fella that definitely had some influence on my love of bikes! 👌😃

Love my 2021 now that I've made a few changes.. Custom leather seat. Flash tune. R2 Nitron rear shock (and heavier oil in front forks). In the twisties I can match most of the sports riders, which looking at the type of bike it is draws some surprised comments from them. I think I'll be keeping it for quite a while. Thanks for the vid mate, love ur headers 👍

Excellent review. Have a '22 blue 900RS. All stock for now. Always loved the green paint. Only blue in the US. My brother rides the RS, I usually ride a regular Z900. Both great bikes. Z's a little faster. RS is definitely more comfortable. Will be keeping them for a while. Watch out for the loons. Thanks.

G'day Ben, yes, good observations. I have owned same for four years, done nearly 20000klm, love the feel of the bike but mainly as a street bike around town or on day rides for a few reasons. I don't think it suits touring particularly due to the seating position, wind exposure and poor fuel economy. It definitely benefits from new pipes (I did the Akro headers with Scorpion pod with similar sound results to you) and there is way more power and torque if you flash it to match (also fixes the snatchy throttle issue), but the fuel economy will dive as this fix needs the bike to run much richer than it does standard. This, in turn, impacts its range on longer rides (I have to carry fuel to do long trips - 17ltr tank is too small). I too did the Angel GT thing (tick), the grab rail (tick), throttle lock (tick), all good moves to improve performance and comfort. Also had the seat remade for more comfort plus lowered the pegs for same (being tall). I still don't like the fixed bars and would prefer they made it easier to swap them out for something more cafe style. Is it fast enough, yes (I also own a Busa). But the main thing I like about it is that it is so easy to ride, it is quick but the quality of the brakes and handling make it very safe and you could almost ride it in your sleep. Great bike with a few minor issues but overall they have done a good job. I note you had no issues with quality, reliability, or warranty problems - I am the same - says alot about the overall build quality.
@bensyoutubeadventures7054
@bensyoutubeadventures7054 Жыл бұрын
Yep spot on. Very easy to ride and super reliable are the main takeaways I feel. I commute a fair amount on mine as well and still get around 270-300km per tank usually with around 1.5-2ltrs remaining so I'm pretty happy with the economy and the comfort as well.

@@bensyoutubeadventures7054 Cheers, on the reliability issue, I recently forgot to put the battery on the trickle charger for a week (the battery is 2018 so probably not the best now). I noticed that the starter motor would spin on pressing the starter but the bike would not start. In other words, it showed no signs of the battery actually being flat but wouldn't start until I put it back on the charger and tried again once fully charged. I figured (without doing any multi-meter work) that if the battery is not fully on spec there might not be enough charge to fire up the fuel pump. Just a theory if this happens to you at some stage. Otherwise, as you say, never had any issues.

Good video! I got the 2018 when it came out. Only mods are a tail tidy, radiator guard, and the taller seat. In 40k km the only problem I've had was the steering bearings (at about 20k), which cost next to nothing to replace at Kawa. A fantastic motorcycle, if I ever replace it, it will be with another Z900rs.

Interesting issue - steering bearings, was there a reason identified? Did they say whether this is common or just a one off, would be keen to know more of your experience here. Cheers.

I'm not a big online 4 fan. Prefer thumpers and twins, but went to a Kawasaki demo day and rode a 2022 Z900RS Cafe. The sound emanating from the bike was amazing! For the asking price it should have come with cruise control like the Ninja 1000.

Hi Ben! regarding the clamp for the clutch cable, there should be a rubber ring holding that big c - clamp. Also, you can also lower the placement of the clamp itself down the tube. I did this to mine and had no more issues. Thank you for your insights! great review

Blocked off the pair valve? had ecu flashed? Had mine done. The oem muffler is way to loud with my akro headers, I tend to rev it a bit harder than you though. Friendly neighbours told me they could hear me coming from klms away. I went with an akro slip on 1st and then settled on a yoshi R77 slipon. The akro killed the rasp so it had to go, the yoshi maintains it at a higher rev range and keeps enough of the low base at cruising speeds, you still know your riding a Z9, I love it. So do the neighbours.

Nah mate. Just the Leo Vince headers. Still fits the O2 censor. Flash not really needed I think. A few pops and crackles on the downshift but nothing too dramatic. It's actually fairly tame sound wise. I definitely rev it but maybe not for video... 👌😃

WOW thats massively amazing ! yours is my favourite z900rs so far, from the mods to that leo vince headers, sounds bloody good ! does the leo vince headers really allows you to assemble the original heat shield ? or is it something that you fabricate yourself?

Great review, I’ve had mine (2020) for just over a year and the only issue I have with it is the high rev at cold start. Do you have this problem or what do you do to overcome it?
@iansians6703
@iansians6703 Жыл бұрын
You can fix this easily - LH side under the tank there is a cable with a lock screw and adjuster screw, wind it off and it will adjust the idle down on cold start. The shop won't do this for you as they say it compromises the warranty/performance etc., which is all an excuse for not doing it I suspect. Worked for me. I can guide you on more detail if needed but the key issue is that the lock nut is hard to get to without some small and flexible tools.

Hey mate, the red / black combo is a great look! I get around 300km per fill. I usually only fit about 14.5 Ltrs in the tank which is 17 litres. I guess I'd get around 350-370 km before it ran empty.
