i know i am answering your question very late, but if someone else is facing same issue this can help him/her if you look at the equation give in the question, it says that A= 4πr². So when choosing the 2 variables, The variable that is the subject in the equation (in this case it is A) should be the numerator and the variable that is on the opposite side to the subject (in this case is r) will be the denominator.
