Warren Peay...I agree with you!! Zac Brown is an amazing musician! A realist. And funny...singing his chicken songs. Most country music these day's is far out in the left field. Almost every time I turn to a country music station...I hear thing's like...I got my girl in my truck and a beer in my hand. And a 12 pack in my cooler in the bed of my truck. Something like that?!🙄 "True" country musicians sang about life and the hard time's. Hank Sr., his son, Merle Haggard, George Jones, David Allen Coe, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Krisstoferson and so on. No offense to the younger generation that listens to the new country singer's. They don't know the better unless their parent's listened to country music growing up.

I've found it interesting how the best original songs, lyrically, on "JEKYLL + HYDE" happen to be their rock-heavy releases.............when country has traditionally been the lyrically-centric genre and rock the more groove-oriented one. If this and "Heavy Is The Head" are any indication, they should use those songs as inspiration for improving their lyricism on subsequent country recordings. Even though I prefer earlier renditions of this more preceding their major-label breakthrough "The Foundation", this is still a damn well-written song with a visceral gut-punching payoff. Definitely better than at least 90% of what currently congests Active Rock radio. I'm actually hoping the Zac Brown Band succeed in continuing to develop themselves as a staple act of the format so they can begin to make Active Rock consistently listenable for the first time since the Black Crowes and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers stopped picking up consistent Top Ten hits in the mid-to-late 90s.

So is "on this train" guys. I think he meant if they're going to be redoing their songs.. As in making them harder.. Anyway.. That song would be great to amp up. And as far as this one goes, I like them both. The first as far as beat, but I like the instruments used in this and where they were taking it.. I just wish they would've stayed a little more towards the original.. There's just a few pieces that need adjusting

@chandlerwood38338 жыл бұрын
The best I can tell, it's about domestic abuse. The boy is him. The girl is his sister. The Junkyard man is the father. He abuses them both. The thing about the sewn mouth and screaming, a lot of times, the abuser will threaten the life of their victim if they tell. So she uses her eyes to tell her story. Near the end, it talks about waking up to broken glass. That tells me that the mother and father were fighting. He has an old bone pocket knife to save his mother from the junkyard man. Meaning, in order to save his life and his families, he's going to stab and kill his father. They escape. The father dies alone. That's his reality. At the "I'm not sick. I am lovely. Hatred is the curse of man. I've washed my hands you see. That's my reality." Once he escaped. He forgave his father for years of abuse. Hatred is worthless. He cleansed himself of his past. Domestic abuse is a real issue nonetheless. Once you escape it, you have a choice. You can either play the victim for the rest of your life or you can cleanse yourself of your past and not let it define who you are as a person now.

Well, I was raised underneath the shade of a Georgia pine And I have lived in a junkyard, where the weeds eat up the rain And that's home ya know My house is not much to talk about It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most Not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes He had a sick little girl, dirty and hard, with a breastplate made of metal She drives all day in her rust heap Buick, and her feet don't reach the pedals Got a jar of flies, her father's disguise where his heart should be I like to feel the sunrise, see the love in my woman's eyes Her mouth is sewn together; she screams with those eyes Yeah, she screams with those eyes...like our chicken fried Well, I shoulda been sleeping, shoulda been dreaming, but I wake up to broken glass. There's no dollar sign on peace of mind, this I've come to know. There'll be one more empty desk in my homeroom class. So, if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast. Got an old bone pocketknife tight in my right hand To save my poor mother from the junkyard man. I thank god for my life. He's as sick as he is lovely, and in need of a hand He will know he's not worthy. When he dies alone you'll see, that's his reality. Salute the one's who died. Hatred is the curse of man. I will not feel unworthy, 'cause I have washed my hands you see For a little bit of chicken fried Cold beer on a Friday night A pair of jeans that fits just right And a radio, oh you see That's my reality.
