I can almost guarantee that this song alone has done more to help raise awareness and money for veterans and homeless vets than our government has in 50+ years
@thomaswall9259 Жыл бұрын
I'd agree that it may have raised awareness, but the money to help has been sadly lacking. I am one of the many veterans that have experienced homelessness, and I'm soon to be in that same damn boat again. Our government has been so interested in enriching themselves that the ones who have kept their freedoms alive are merely an afterthought. It is sickening, and a sad commentary of this country.
@LucyWatts-km2du Жыл бұрын
I agree with that and like I've said before. There is absolutely no reason for any of our veterans to be homeless. Cold hungry, whatever this country should take care of our veterans, till the day they pass for free. We need to take care of our own first and stop worrying about the rest of the world. Take care of our own first cause. I aint nobody out there taking care of iris. That's something we should do. I'm an army veteran and then I'm blessed because I have a home. I have good insurand that is such a blessing. And it's a miracle in my life. I can't stand the fact that. I've entrance around the street. Some of them in the cold. Someone emptied it arms andelete some of them's brain. Are not right. There's a lot of things and they should NOT EVER BE WITHOUT. People don't realize this country without our soldiers and veterans. It's like heaven with no angels. A lot of good men and women stand up for our way of life and everybody. We have now and our military branches are all volunteers. There's not been a draft since Vietnam. And I must say Vietnam veterans are not treated fairly. They're not treated right and that's a shame .
@LucyWatts-km2du Жыл бұрын
I thank you for your service and I just gotta say it's a d*** shame there's no reason ever for vete trains are elderly and are children to be hungry cold homeless wild people from other countries and nations come here. We take care of them. But what better own I'm a veteran as well. But I'm blessed that I do have a home. I have good insurance where I can do medical. And that is such a blessing in my life. I could not imagine not having some more light in my head. Not having a blanket to cover up me. In my little Fur baby, it's a d*** shine. Veterans should be taken care of 100% free for the rest of their life. Shouldn't have to worry about d*** thing. But as you said, our governments to worry about other s*** to worry about the ones who stood up. I still stand to protect our way of life. Thank you for your servi. I'll never abandon her. I'll never not take care of her. She's recently developed a severe disability and can't navigate down stairs or even take a shower without someone there to help her and I'll forever be that person as long as she wants. I'll never forget that she was there for me when I was at my lowest. I have a wonderful career and 2 college degrees because of her. All I needed was a helping hand and she gave me that and more.

He buys shit food all the time when he can afford to feed us better and a lot of other very horrible things my dad really sucks. But I still have major respect for other veterans because they risked their life to protect. I have to take back what I said again. I liked the ending because there are a few amount of people that would help a homeless person, vet or not, off the street like that. When those 2 people locked eyes.... Edit: Well sadly we recently gotten divorced(married for 12yrs and together for 16yrs). It’s been rough for me lately. She seems to regret what she did but is struggling financially. I’m only struggling mentally. I didn’t have just my heart crushed….it was shattered. Last few months I’ve been having to pick up the pieces to become what I’ve been training to be. @armyxveteran It’s a really messed up thing. The U.S. government has all these resources to “help” everyone else in the world EXCEPT for those of us who defended the nation. Iraq was a shitshow. Afghanistan was worse, especially when your current sitting “president” abandoned our brothers in Kabul like that. I may not be an American anymore, but I will always have a place in my heart for my brothers who served before me, with me, and after me. The warriors of America are the only Americans I care about anymore, and several of my brothers back in the states know that if they’re ever in a bind and can’t make ends meet, all they have to do is hit me up and I’ll send them whatever I can afford to so they can keep a roof over their head, their lights on, and food on their table.

A lot of people say the saddest part is the end, but I really think when the vet is getting arrested and how is he on the verge of tears (accompanied by captions saying ``A veteran doesn`t understand why his sacrifice went unappreciated) was what nearly got me. It`s also sad how the father Veteran never got any justice, the arrested vet gets empathy from the cop (who was also a vet or atleast served with his unit), the black Vet (no better way to describe him, unfortunately) meets up with the vet that saved his life, and might have helped him get his life on track. The father veteran is left sitting in the street, crying over his lost daughter.
