I am a vet and almost became homeless. If it wasn't for my girlfriend's mom letting me live with them and get back on my feet, I would have became homeless. I listened to this song so many time before watching this video. And while watching this, I had a hard time focusing on the music because the subtitles and focusing on the expressions of these veterans really got to me. I liked the ending because there are a few amount of people that would help a homeless person, vet or not, off the street like that. When those 2 people locked eyes.... Edit: Well sadly we recently gotten divorced(married for 12yrs and together for 16yrs). It’s been rough for me lately. She seems to regret what she did but is struggling financially. I’m only struggling mentally. I didn’t have just my heart crushed….it was shattered. Last few months I’ve been having to pick up the pieces to become what I’ve been training to be. Now all I do is work, workout, play video games and watch anime. Anything to keep my mind busy. But at night….when I sleep….its quiet and my mind wonders 😢😭

My dad was a big drinker and abuser. I struggled with building relationships after I moved out. Took away my self worth. I soon drowned in the darkness and became my father. I became the man I promised. I would never become. I picked up that bottle and couldn’t let it go. Almost pushing away all my family and loved ones. I put that bottle down 10/19/22 and have made the changes. To being the father, son, and husband and friend my father could never become. I’m grateful that I was able to overcome my addiction. And get the help I needed. Thank you for the song. Really helps keep me motivated to keep pushing. 1 day at a time.

Absolutely I’m a Veteran 16 years and 4 16 month deployments and as all Veteran on here knows or Brothers died in countries and for what. I struggle everyday and to all you weak civilians that are to afraid to sign that line and take that oath and be in country telling your Brothers that they are going to be fine knowing the whole damn time you was lying to him and there’s no cure and never will be this is our new life getting treated like trash and can’t get this or that because we are disabled but whoever is to scared and all men of age should do 2-4 years and it might make it better or worse but everyone needs to see what we do and see and it’s never gonna go away…… So me personally I don’t believe this disrespect any Veteran he went back and how many has been in war or military so until then judge us but I like the songs he gets justice for his Dead Brothers and I’ve done the same so say shit about me. I like the song and if had it to do over I be right there.

You sacrificed so much and we are still the greatest country in the world....thanks to you and all the other brave men and women that served this country. I've never served, missed my opportunity, but have many family members who have served, in peacetime and wars. I wish I could just hug you and tell you that there are so many people who support you and look up to you and really want to help you. Please know that you are loved deeply, not just by other people, but by the most high, Jesus Christ. He never will, desert you. Every day I walked to work wearing a suit and tie thinking how much my job sucked and how much I wish I had a better life, Then one day I sat down beside a homeless man who didnt have his hand out. Imagine how absurd I felt sitting there in a suit, then I listened to his story, and every day for two years I sat down beside my homeless friend Rowl. Rowl would not let me give him money. He wanted me to just listen. So I did. One day my friend wasn't there. I haven't seen him since. I miss my friend, and, more importantly I really appreciate his sacrifice for us. Thank you Rowl. I served in the Army, ended up in a divorce, and spent 5 years homeless until I managed to get up and make shit happen for myself because no one else would. I loved my country, but my country didn’t love me. So when I could afford to get out of the US, I did just that. Life outside of America has been the biggest blessing I e ever been given by God. @@armyxveteran It’s a really messed up thing. The U.S. government has all these resources to “help” everyone else in the world EXCEPT for those of us who defended the nation. Iraq was a shitshow. Afghanistan was worse, especially when your current sitting “president” abandoned our brothers in Kabul like that. I may not be an American anymore, but I will always have a place in my heart for my brothers who served before me, with me, and after me. The warriors of America are the only Americans I care about anymore, and several of my brothers back in the states know that if they’re ever in a bind and can’t make ends meet, all they have to do is hit me up and I’ll send them whatever I can afford to so they can keep a roof over their head, their lights on, and food on their table.

After 21 years in the Army, all in the infantry. Numerous tours in the middle east and Africa. I returned home after my last tour to divorce paperwork and looking into the eyes of my two grown daughters and thinking, who are you? We were hit by an IED on my last tour and I suffered from a TBI and a host of other things. So, like so many of us, I ended up homeless, addicted to drugs, using women and just simply being a real piece of crap. It took me 7 years and the chance meeting with this amazing woman who helped me et my head straight enough to ask for help. And after jumping through the hoops and going to the VA and my local vet rep, but I started collecting on my retirement and was awarded 100% from the VA. That woman taught me a lot. And she still does. I married that woman. And one thing that she always does, is plays me music that she believes I need to hear. I am grateful to my wife, for introducing me to Five Finger Death Punch. And for making me actually hear the words that that patriotic group has to say.

I’m also a retired 11B and know your anguish, it pulls the floor from under us and we don’t know how to respond and we feel alone, completely alone. I lost one of my men to suicide after he ETSed and I missed his last phone call, I tear up thinking about him. What he saw one day in Iraq, no one should have to witness the death of women and children and it wasn’t us that did it, just crazy Iraqi’s who care less for life. When those closest to us that we’re supposed to trust the most let us down and emotionally abandon us, it cuts even deeper. Then the VA cares less since they think we’re making things up so when we trust the VA, it cuts deeper. I’m glad you’re free now. Women rarely know how,to respond to our emotions, they just see that you embarrass them and there’s little to no money coming in.

@thomaswall9259
@thomaswall9259 5 ай бұрын
I'd agree that it may have raised awareness, but the money to help has been sadly lacking. I am one of the many veterans that have experienced homelessness, and I'm soon to be in that same damn boat again. Our government has been so interested in enriching themselves that the ones who have kept their freedoms alive are merely an afterthought. It is sickening, and a sad commentary of this country.
@LucyWatts-km2du
@LucyWatts-km2du 5 ай бұрын
I agree with that and like I've said before. There is absolutely no reason for any of our veterans to be homeless. Cold hungry, whatever this country should take care of our veterans, till the day they pass for free. We need to take care of our own first and stop worrying about the rest of the world. Take care of our own first cause. I aint nobody out there taking care of iris. That's something we should do. I'm an army veteran and then I'm blessed because I have a home. I have good insurand that is such a blessing. And it's a miracle in my life. I can't stand the fact that. I've entrance around the street. Some of them in the cold. Someone emptied it arms andelete some of them's brain. Are not right. There's a lot of things and they should NOT EVER BE WITHOUT. People don't realize this country without our soldiers and veterans. It's like heaven with no angels. A lot of good men and women stand up for our way of life and everybody. We have now and our military branches are all volunteers. There's not been a draft since Vietnam. And I must say Vietnam veterans are not treated fairly. They're not treated right and that's a shame .

I thank you for your service and I just gotta say it's a d*** shame there's no reason ever for vete trains are elderly and are children to be hungry cold homeless wild people from other countries and nations come here. We take care of them. But what better own I'm a veteran as well. But I'm blessed that I do have a home. I have good insurance where I can do medical. And that is such a blessing in my life. I could not imagine not having some more light in my head. Not having a blanket to cover up me. In my little Fur baby, it's a d*** shine. Veterans should be taken care of 100% free for the rest of their life. Shouldn't have to worry about d*** thing. But as you said, our governments to worry about other s*** to worry about the ones who stood up. I still stand to protect our way of life. Thank you for your servi. "the nation who forgets their veterans, will be the nation that is forgotten" who forgets about their veterans most? americans, because they are not fighting for freedom. They fighting for politicians. Were they fucking ever invaded? fuck no. Everytime Americans are the fire starter...sry guys. I have nothing against you, you dont even know about it that you are being moved like chess pieces all over the world. Remember my words. You have nothing to do with it, you just the poor people that will be affected the most when rich men in your country will start everything. Mark my words for that. The war is coming ...maybe not to your country because you away but war is already on middle east, you taking part in it for resources , you do not fight for freedom there. BULLSHIT. War is in europe as well...not officially but is there. And war will come to you as well...once you wont be able to fight you will be forgotten because we are all only a pieces in rich people game. She's recently developed a severe disability and can't navigate down stairs or even take a shower without someone there to help her and I'll forever be that person as long as she wants. Sorry to break it to you, but your wars are started mostly to protect the US petro-dollar relationship and to maintain USD as the worlds reserve currency, which allows your greed-driven privately-owned banking corporations to print as much money as the need, much of which is used to fund your over-bloated military force. The sausage sizzle is sold to the public in the name of patriotism, and the people that serve in the military are disposable collateral damage.

My grandfather served in the Army during WWII and my dad served in the air force during Vietnam. The both lived tough lives when they came back. My dad came back to an America that spit on him, cursed him and shunned him. Most of the Vietnam war vets were treated this way. He lived his life in shame and guilt. He never could find a great job, became an alcoholic and when my mom and him separated, he was homeless in another state for about a year. He passed away 3 years ago but it breaks my heart to know that he went straight out of highschool to do what everyone back then told him was the "honorable" thing to only be met with hatred and disrespect when he returned. I pray he's in a better place and truly happy after a lifetime of pain!! R.I.P. dad and grandpa!! You will never be forgotten!

Volunteer army vet here. I was infantry. One of the hardest things I've done in life, yet my fondest memories. Lost a few buddies and part of myself. I often think about if they're still there fighting hard. Is part of me dead or fighting beside them still? The love I have for my brothers, and this beautiful country far surpasses the love I have for myself and my life. I'm waiting and itching. I hope they call me back in. Civilian life is not what it used to be and no one understands when I say I was built for battle not a 9 to 5. Now I'm lost. I'm a protector not a carpenter.

What an amazing video. My dad was a Veteran on disability. There were many times he had to fight the system to get the benefits he deserved. Many Veteran's are unappreciated. The next time you see a veteran, tell him how much you appreciate his sacrifice. Thank you for making this song and video and showing the statistics of what war does to a person and their families. He passed New Year's Eve, 2013. It was a while ago, but it still affects me deeply as he was nothing like the man I knew as a child. The VA tried to put him in a facility that was dirty and disgusting. Sharing a bathroom with others and the bathroom was filthy. It was such a horrible place. Why would the government treat our honored Veterans that way. I know this about the homeless Veteran's but I wanted to say that our own government treats our Veteran's just as awful 😖.

@@NoNo-ng3nx it may sound like that. But why do governments send soldiers to mali for example? Because local war and local terrorists destroy local civilians lifes and terrorists spread all the time. We send soldiers because other governments ask for our help and also if we wouldn't send troops out they would spread around the world more and more and it wouldn't be safe for you to be in home no matter where u live. See this is the thing. If we wouldn't send troops there wouldn't be noone to fight u said right? Well not all other countries are as civilised and Well organised. Sometimes I wonder what it’s like to follow the paths of these great heroes, and become a member of the U.S. military. This just pisses me off that a great bit of the population don’t even appreciate our soldiers and men in combat who have risked their lives to represent the strength of our country. My prayers go out to all of those who have lost a friend or suffered an almost fatal injury in combat. ❤
