dress blues are Army. Every branch of service does have their own class 1 and 2s, also referred to as ASUS. But blues are army only due to back when the cavalry used to wear all blue, take their jacket off then when they put it back on it looked black compared to the faded blue pants

The Dress Blue Uniform was a uniform founded at Tunn Tavern, in 1775 Philadelphia a date over a year before the founding fathers recognized the U.S. ARMY Thus the birth of the Dress Blue uniform, it took the U.S. ARMY TILL 1821 to have it's first Dress Blues

It was written for cpl. Matthew conley from greenhill, al. Also isbells hometown, i'm from a few miles away from muscle shoals, also a Marine, know them both, spent many a night drinking and shooting pool with jason. Today also marks the death of lcpl. Brandon c. Murley dec. 23rd, 1995 which led me to need this song today, the first of many friends over 23 years of service ive watched die and miss daily

Man... playing the taps brings in so much emotion... My grandpa had a 21 gun solute with taps and that was the most emotional part of the funeral. great song and a great cover by my favorite band!

Bo Gillian yeag. Im 16 from a military family and taps were played at my grandfathers funeral and I've gotten better but for a while after taps just made me start balling. Meanwhile in colorguard for Boy Scouts I had to keep a straight face and it was hard. Im glad someone else understands it.

Was driving along Highway 2 just west of Williston, ND this morning around 6 am and pulled up alongside another truck at a traffic light. Looked over and saw a crusty old man wearing a tattered Airborne cap sitting behind the wheel staring at his radio and crying like a baby. Brought a few tears to my eyes too......ZBB was the perfect band to sing Jason's song.

You know as a guy in the army that is about to get deployed, and who has lost several friends in the past years due to the war. This song is hard to listen too, I love it but at the same time it makes me tear up at the same time. I can't help but think of the great men that I loved and knew as friends that gave their lives. It hurts to know that there are people out there that don't care about the ones that give the ultimate sacrifice, especially here at home . They don't know what it feels like to loose someone close to you. Especially to have someone at home that you care about out that doesn't seem to show the love and care for what you do. God bless the USA and all we can do is hope and pray that the people we love will understand and be there for us in the end. Thanks to all my fellow brothers in arms out there that have served and gave there lives for the freedom of U.S. Lives

I give credit to Jason Isbell for writing the song. I've listened to Zac Brown and him sing the song. Zac Brown (IMO) puts a lot more feeling into it. It just flows better. Jason mumbles the words. I like how ZBB puts the added patriotic music in-between the last 2 verses. In either case, it's a great song and a matter of preference on who sings it. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

And don’t give a Damn if the person who is singing it sounds as Great or smooth or as Evocative as: Johnny Cash or whether they sound as unpolished or out of Tune as possible. As long as the person singing it, Is Genuine about it & they understand & appreciate the Song and they care for those who Lived the Songs lyrics for Real and continue to live them everyday..
