People just summarily dismiss traditional big men in general nowadays. I think Edey could easily be a solid contributor on any team. You could take Edey in the second half of the first round and get a solid 25 minutes per game, above average rim protection, and 2 blocks per for the next 10 years.

How is Donovan Clingan a potential #2? Clingan nearly fouled out of the National Championship game while Edy hung 37 points and 10 rebounds on him. Clingan was outplayed by Edey in every aspect of the game. If Edey isnt a lottery pick, then any idea Clingan is a lottery pick seems just as far-fetched. Im going to predict Clingan wont last 4 years in the NBA.

Any team on the west with a pick they don’t “need” should take a gamble on him. Can’t teach height but you might be able to get him NBA ready even as a back up. A 7ft4 back up centre will be huge against teams like Denver, Minnesota and eventually San Antonio.

Question: Zach Edey is 2" taller than Donovan Clingan, has 4" more wingspan, but why do they have the same standing reach? On shooting drills Edey shot 44%, 60% and 56%, Clingan shot 56%, 63%, 40%. They were identical. Clingan is 20, Edey is 22. 2 years is an eternity for the NBA. It would be like drafting Dwight Howard vs Emeka Okafor. One has more time and more potential, the other is a great player but slightly less likely to improve.

Edey should def go to Europe. Better places to live, he'll be a key player rather than a bench option. Far more enriching experience for the same money as a later round pick and he'll be able to work more on some post moves with Euro coaching being far better than US college.
