@@TOGGGAA1 The endurance at that speed I'd consider amazing, even if you practice single and double stroke roll, and alternate left right and throw in a double kick it'd still take a few months, grinding at it for someone new, and likely not working on anything else. Seeing as the vast majority of people in the world can't even do the basic beat at 120 BPM, even less can do this for this amount of time.

As a self-taught drummer, I've been playing for over 16 years and this still blows my mind to this day. And to anybody that wants to get some sense as to what's going on here, just go look at the snare beat that starts at 2:11 That is actually like a slow version of what is going on when he plays really fast. It's not just some blastbeat left right left right at high speed, It's like it's own fully musical composition that's completed only with the drums. It's truly incomprehensible, especially to professionally trained drummers.

I really like his drumming an all, But for the most part the fast stuff is conceptually simple. Its fast linear style drumming, sharing rudiments between hand foot combinations. Theres a central focus that hes peppering the different drums over. I really like his drumming. Its all feel. I sorta get what you mean, its proper solid to do like drum line stuff or complex jazz, but pro drummers get this I think. They just choose to play different. Like it's really intense but theres more "notes per second " or however you wanna judge complexity, in having four parts spread between the hands and feet playing complimentary parts.

I worked the stage at a club in NYC in 2005 and Zach Hill played with a very bizarre version of Hella. 3 horns, bassist and 2 drummers. His set up was tons of broken cymbals and cheap mismatched drums. He was really pleasant, a nice guy. I setup my mics around his mammoth set and put a drum mat down so his drums wouldn't move. I left my backpack on the stage behind him, at least 3 feet behind him, but at the edge of the drum mat. He played like this vid for 45 mins. At the end, I was striking his gear and the drum mat was soaked with sweat and seeped onto my bag. It was that " haven't showered in a month stink". I had to throw the bag out! Worth it to see him live from 6 feet away!

I'll let you know right now, the technique is not as hard as it would seem. I'm only on my third month of drumming, and I have 100% figured out how it works. You just need to activate your calf muscles, I would look into 6-minute calf exercises. Start working out your calves, because again I'm on my third month and I'm already starting to double bass with one pedal. You have to hold your leg upto where the beater isn't digging into the head, but it's like halfway there. Then you need the beater to be further back than normal, and the spring to be as loose as possible. Next start doing calf exercises. when you start activating your caps you can literally pulsate them when you hold your legs in this position. but just understanding the technique of how it works does not give you the years of time and consistent practice required it to get to the level of double and triple basing that Zack can achieve. I'd say it would take quite some time before anyone can reach that, but the actual comprehension of it is not that crazy. It just takes being home all day so that way you can figure out what's going on
@andrewtiwet9918
@andrewtiwet9918 4 жыл бұрын
You just need to develop calf strength and a feel for the pedal. I don't think any drummers with a good right foot actually use the heel-toe technique. It's a waste of time to learn IMO.
@callanc3925
@callanc3925 4 жыл бұрын
I never bothered to learn heel toe and i can get real fast doubles with single pedal. I use a technique that I think is called "the slide technique" where i hit it at the top of the pedal and then slide my foot down and make another hit quickly after that, can get pretty fast if the pedal is set up right

I just bought a full electronic drum kit yesterday, trading in my gaming habit for something more productive. This dude is a huge inspiration for me, along with rdj (even though he isn’t technically a drummer). Just trying to replicate the beats are pretty rough lol snare and bass are doable but when u throw in the complex hi hat whew! Practice makes perfect, I will play at least 2 hrs a day after work. Edit: I can’t replicate this lol I meant dg tracks and aphex tracks.

@@skullnumb1532 I play 30 min to an hour daily now. 15 minutes of rudiments at least. Im very consistent with this and I’ve noticed massive improvements over time. Single stroke/double stroke roll, paradiddle (with variation, for example incorporating the kick instead of using both hands) are the 3 main rudiments I practice. I also practice a lot of triplets using my kick to practice fills. I am comfortable playing 1/4 notes 1/8 notes and 16th notes on the hi hat. Very comfortable In 4/4 time or variations of it. Feel like I have decent groove and timing but need more work on incorporating fills. Need to learn some new time signatures. Overall, I’ve made massive strides and am starting to feel comfortable on the kit. Can’t wait to move into a house so I can buy an acoustic kit. I wish I started playing earlier in life, but still feel like I have plenty of time to master the craft. I’d say I’m starting to get into intermediate skill level.
