Yeah, I don’t think anyone can play the Jerry guitar like Zac. I love DSO, JGB, JRAD and others but nobody lets it rip so naturally as Zac where every music note has so much in it. This guy knows every song and dare I say pushes some of them even farther than Jerry or GD ever did( examples: if I had the world to give, Reuben & cherise, even foolish heart where john Mayer can’t even get it off the ground) Love the whole band and they keep gettin better. Solo, duo or backed by a big band Zac is amazing

I’ve never paid much attention to drumming before, but after watching a lot of these videos I’ve come to realize that Cotter Ellis’s solid and creative drumming really helps to make this whole band sound great.

I really like Zach & company, but recently another Dead cover band showed up in my KZbin feed that also deserves a listen: Bertha Grateful Drag. An innovative approach to the canon, to say the least.

That’s a tough one! I love playing the open jam tunes like PITB because there’s a blank canvas for us to paint on. Supplication and Terrapin Suite are great for leaning into the technical energetic stuff. I think my all time favorite is Morning Dew but just because we play it in a unique way. Slower than your average Dew and focusing on a really wide dynamic spectrum to milk as much emotion as possible.
