There was 2 sub plots involving the P90 in Stargate SG-1 that need got flushed out but ironically came up in the trading cards set for the show. The first idea was that Belgium guns would work better against replicators. Basically but accident the SGC would figure out that Belgium weapons would destroy replicators quicker with less ammunition. Then any time there was an episode with replicators, Belgium weapons would be in the front. The second sub plot was that Amanda Tapping’s character Colonel Carter was left handed. In real life Amanda Tapping is not left handed but the idea was to get more left handed people to want to join the Air Force and other United States armed forces.

I feel like the SVD being a "Sniper Rifle" comes from the fact that WW2/Korea sniper rifles were "a particularly good bolt action firing the same shit as normal" and snipers were essentially just Marksmen, while modern tech has made sniper rifles a special-calibre weapon with a range often set in miles, not yards. I think the SVD is both a sniper and a DMR because it came around at the exact same time those became different things.

M1897 trench gun info from the C&Rsenal episode on the gun: - the rumor that Zach mentioned about skeet shooters deflecting grenades seems to have been fabricated by a U.S. magazine - people really like bringing up the Germans trying to ban shotguns as evidence of how amazing they were, but this isn't true. The British did a similar campaign against the sawback bayonets used by German engineers. All of these were attempts to smear enemy nations, not evidence of efficacy. - In that vein, WWI shotguns were issued with paper cartridges which disintegrated in wet conditions, like a trench. These would jam the gun after the first shot. Brass cartridges were introduced very late in the war, possibly withour seeing frontline use. - the popular conception of shotguns being trench wonder weapons isn't true. They were certainly used on offense, but the majority were used in guard positions, things like prisoner or station guards. Trench use was also predominantly defensive, used at night. I bear no ill will against trench shotguns, but I really want to fight common myths about them.
@classifiedad1Ай бұрын
Also, the bayonet was from the M1917 Enfield, not the Springfield rifle. A small run of M1917 bayonets were made during the Vietnam War specifically for WWII-era shotguns still in use, long after the M1917 rifle was phased out of active service.
@cobraglatiatorАй бұрын

Also, technically the Trench Gun was not officially issued as a combat shotgun in WW1. Officially it was issued as a shotgun to guard PoWs. However, it was given out to line soldiers as field trials. And by WW2 it, and the Winchester 1912 had been officially adopted as Combat shotguns.

I saw a video about an interesting new pistol cartridge the other day, and naturally the title was something like "This will replace 9mm!" After 123 years of ubiquitous use and constant improvement, nothing will ever replace 9mm. Ooh, it penetrates a bit further than 9mm. So does every intermediate rifle cartridge used in modern rifles. Pretty sure that it was Stargate, followed by video games, that brought the P90 into the 'mainstream' knowledge, and I think that Stargate started using them because the MP5s they were using kept ejecting blanks into faces and collars, and they needed something that worked that didn't do that, was easy to use, and allowed the actors faces to be visible while still looking military enough to be believable.

When I worked at an airsoft field we would use dump pouches to hold P90 mags. There was a weird pouch by condor for a little bit but we found dump pouches worked better.

the thing i find funny about the P90 TR is that, despite it not being made for as long as the regular P90, most games i've played that have a P90 use the TR model

Zachs Gun Rants, and Gun Jesus Forgotten weapons are how i get my gun information xD i originally came to this channel from the campfire stories, but man is it fun hearing a fellow autist go on about a shared interest- and mikes basically the "uhuh, and then what happened?" guy xD like my real life friend equivalents

The P90 was designed to be used ambidextrously so the controlls sre on both sides of the weapon and the shells eject from the bottom.

You know what.. Airsoft gear got P90 pouches covered, I remember seeing a brand of adjustable large SMG magazine pouches made specifically to house bison or P90 magazines. Airsoft grade LBEs are good enough for civilians I reckon. Bit cheaper too since they don't have to be as sturdy as military grade. (supposedly)

RE: The Soviet Body Armor question and the P90. Zach is probably referencing the article in 9 Hole Reviews titled: "NATO PDW trials: the forbidden saga of "MP7 vs P90". The article basically alleges that the armor penetration tests for the proposed PDW's were designed to prevent 9mm from winning. The tests were conducted against Soviet Kevlar with a thin titanium plate. The 5.7X28mm cartridge for the P90 was able to penetrate this thin armor, and the 9mm was not.

5:18 that looks like an OTS 33 Pernach Machine Pistol they're chambered in 9x18. It was designed in the 90's. Thats about all i know about it, wikipidea said the square slide was to increase controlability of recoil and the simpler design meant it was cheaper to make aswell. This brings me distrust of information avaliable online about the pistol, however given the nature of it online is the closest I will probably ever get to the Pernach.

The story of the FBI and 10mm is actually way more convoluted than Zach makes it out to be. There were like 3 different 10mm rounds.

I think the best way to modify or improve the P90 to check for loaded chamber, would be to have a little tiny pin inside that gets pushed by the bullet once loaded inside the chamber, and shows a little red painted dot on the side of the gun. And if the bullet is unloaded, the spring action pushes the pin back in, which means if there's space for that tiny pin to go in, the chamber is logically empty. And of course you don't want that thing to go crazy once fired because of the fast loading/unloading of the automatic fire action. So when you press the trigger, there's a little arm that catches the pin so it stays out when the trigger is pressed. (Not a firearms expert, but I think its pretty decent idea for it)
@gundamned4879Ай бұрын
this is too much mechanical complexity, look up a disassembly of the P90 and youll see how goddamn barebones simple it is inside. The P90 is a cheap gun, FN would never bother doing anything like this

It’s 1:25 AM, I don’t have class until later today, I don’t have any homework, and I’ve got all the snacks I can hope for. I was just thinking about hitting up this channel as I’m about to take up getting a conceal carry license and wanted to get some sage advice from the homies Mike and Zach. Thank you for blessing us with the sacred ‘tism of gun rants guys, really makes my night. Also, pet le treasure panda for me.

8:41 Czechs build BREN specifically because it can be used both with NATO and old Warsaw Pact ammo. Supposedly takes trained soldier single minute to change parts in order to change cartridge. They wanted to use NATO bullets but being post communist country they have solid half a century worth of "old" bullets stacked up. Us (Slovaks) bought bunch of them for same reason - smaller army, but 5th Regiment (Slovak SAS) loves them.

As a rotory owner, i can confirm that Mazda is coming out with the RX9. The rotory has been used in more cars than people realize, rx2, rx3, rx4, rx7, rx8, Mazdas Cosmos Urinos (3 rotor, or commonly known as 20b) the lamans race car has a 26b, which is a 4 rotor set up. The most common rotory is the 13b or the Renesis (rx8 only) but they consist of 2 rotors.
