I live in Utah, and I've kind of followed Zach Wilson's career since high school. He grew up the son of a University of Utah alumnus and football player, and he always dreamed of playing at the U. But he ended up playing at rival BYU because the U football coach Kyle Whittingham didn't wine him and dine him and fawn over him enough, and both the U of U coaches and the coaches at Boise St, where Wilson nearly committed, told him he'd have to compete for the starting job. Zach Wilson wasnt going to "compete for the starting job"--didnt they know who he was? So he ultimately ended up at the school--the hated rival school--that told him most fervently how great he was, and promised him the job without working for it. It finally came out well enough for him in his last year at BYU, but even the BYU fans shook their heads when they saw the Jets (of course it was the Jets) took him at #2. He's not an nfl franchise qb, and if his play hasn't proven that, surely the glimpse we got into his attitude yesterday does.

If I had a son that was a big time football recruit he'd be going to my alma mater and not their rival or he'd be disinherited.

Windy day, really tough jets defense, and game flow combined for the performance. but Jones played a clean game, 23-27 for 246, despite taking 6 sacks. Now, normally I put sacks on Qb's, and Mack deserves some criticism for taking them, but he was clearly instructed to push the issue. But the O-line was a massive issue, especially up the middle. That's what happens when two offensive linemen get injured right at the start of the game or before it, against a stingy and tough jets defense.

I used to be a Jets fan as kid into my late twenties. Their last relevant team was the Ryan led teams and then they devolved into a clown show. I jumped off the bandwagon when Gase was hired. I am also a Bears fan. When pundits anointed Wilson the second best QB in the draft I was ecstatic that Justin Fields fell to us. Even through the growing pains, Justin has proven that he has all the tools and intangibles like hardwork, leadership and accountability. Something that Wilson doesn't seem to have learned.

Jets have the same problem Cleveland had with Baker Mayfield.. high pick that's clearly showing you he's not going to become "The" franchise QB... but it's worse with the Jets because at least Mayfield showed flashes in that one playoff win (I'm channeling Skip Bayless?)... Problem for the Jets is there's no Deshawn Watson out there to pivot to. They're going to have to pick from the next level of QB's.. and pick right as they're ready to win now with that defense.. They get to see the blueprint for how to handle a QB transition on the cheap up close when they play Gino Smith in a couple of weeks. They should take a really close look at Derek Carr??? After an abysmal season, the Raiders won't throw McDaniels under the bus and pay off his contract.. and they're going to have a top 5 pick so they can go for a QB this draft... so its most likely going to be Carr that takes the fall... Jet's need to figure out what they can give LV to make that happen...

So Zach Wilson's QB rating in the NYJ-NEP Game was 50.8 and Mac Jones' QB rating was 104.6 but Wilson takes no responsibility. Mike & Miles are spot-on for lighting up Wilson. Sure NE should have made another field goal (1 of 3) but the NYJ defense played very well. Amazing for the QB who is leader of the offense to throw the defense/special teams under the bus for allowing a whole 10 points.

As the quarterback, and a member of the offense whether it’s QB, Center, or RB should accept that responsibility. If the offense had 19 Carries for 33 yards then you got MORE THAN JUST A QB ISSUE. Youth or not, if you are going to take the praise in the wins, you better be the first in line to take the blame (even if it isn't). The Jets are the Jets and he is having his Darnold phase, ghost next. The team is incomplete for this QB and more than 50% of QBs, they are close to bottom 10 rushing the ball and don't have the passing offense to offset that deficiency. The Jets have to be top half rushing to be good or know what Wilson can do. They better hope Fields is out or not running next week because the Bears can beat teams that cannot run the ball for over 150 yards against their weak defense. I looked at the numbers and was surprised to see the Patriots had about 250 yards of passing and 350 yards of offense and scored 3 points till their last play. Then looked closer saw they missed 2 field goals a top kicker would not have missed (which is still only 9 points), 4th down miss, and over 100 yards in penalties and sacks to explain it.
