Here’s why I love Fred and his show. You don’t hear “shooter buck”.
@The-Digger3 жыл бұрын
I know every deer was a trophy to your pops but in every hunters heart they are after the big one
@Michigan-Outdoors3 жыл бұрын
Yes like all hunters he would love a trophy, however the reason he hunted and fished was to be self sufficient, enjoy the outdoors and if a "Trophy" crossed his path he would take it, but he generally did not pass up a legal shot, regardless of size. If that makes sense.

I remember this episode. So glad you Dad got that buck and to see him so excited. I always credited the miss on the first buck to him laying the barrel on the bottom sill of the window. Thanks for posting all of these!

That could be, however he was known for very bad, Buck Fever, he also had a hard time sitting still for any period of time, anywhere. :)

This is probably my favourite Fred Trost episode as it portrayed him as the everyday hunter. Now that's what I call reality TV; there was no scripting that miss!!
@Michigan-Outdoors5 жыл бұрын
You are right, no scripting. The only scripts we used were generally in the studio for the Outdoor News, Guides' Report, etc. My Father could Talk, and Talk, And Talk. Many time he did have a script in his mind and that is what also made him an excellent interviewer.

These videos are SO great!!! What a awesome time for deer hunting!!! Back when deer hunting was about family, comaraderie, and filling the freezer for the year. Deer were respected and appreciated for what they were and what they provided.... Not trying to out due your buddy or shoot world record class deer. Just hunters loving life in the great northern woods of Michigan and enjoying gods great creation.... The mystical whitetail!!!! Can't wait for season 2018
