Mercruiser 3.0 Teardown Part 2

What we remove in this video:
1.) Crank Shaft Pulley(Harmonic balancer) - 1:12
2.) Crank/camshaft gear cover(Timing Cover) - 3:48
3.) Distributor - 6:04
4.) Fuel Sender(Fuel Pump) - 8:30
5.) Cam Shaft - 7:10 , 9:15

My pulley doesn’t spin. I think engine might be seized. Any way you recommend to get it back to spinning? Without stripping it ideally😅

How did water get in that cylinder?

Leak from the exhaust riser gasket into the exhaust manifold into the cylinder

@@evanbushong4291 well the previous owner also had the boat sitting for 5 to 10 years in the elements without running it. So humidity and condensation multiplied by a few thousand days did not help it

Hi, question. What was the cause of all the water in the motor? I figured the block had froze and split

No, from what I could tell part of it may have been an exhaust riser gasket leak of water. But also I flooded the boat in the lake accidentally right before I was going to rebuild it 😛 that was probably where most of the water came from

Hey zachs how did you clean the cooling system behind the cylinder by the water pump hole?

"I" did not. It was cleaned pretty good from the machine shop throwing my engine block in their dishwasher

Keep me posted on how you install the balancer I’m at that point now just rebuilt my lower end on my lower engine they said you can freeze the balancer for easier installation

I will hopefully be able to get that done within a week to see. I think the freeze idea should help, I'll try it out

I just put the balancer back on, I might have been thinking opposite, I heated the balancer instead of freezing, it was hard as hek to get on. I had to hammer the hek out of it

That is what I did too I boiled mine for 15 mins she was tight the whole way in just dropped my motor back in Saturday gotta rebuild my lower unit since the last guy screwed things up
