What Do You Like about Zack Greinke? Who should I do Next? Let me know!

You didn't mention his years in KC when he had velocity and could mix speeds

I love that he'll give the batter his own signs. What pitcher has ever done that? Pure confidence.
@joootooobboosheet24862 жыл бұрын
I guess maybe the second and third best thing about him, is the fact that he can hit the ball, and is a complete player. If I were a manager, I would feel confident putting him just about anywhere on the field. The guy is amazing.

Zack is my favorite pitcher. If you watched last season closely he had a lot of bad luck but he also did not do well like he usually does with two outs. I watched every game he pitched and he just had a bad two outs season. He usually always closes the show. To watch him pitch is amazing how he out guesses the hitters and always keeps them off balance. I am so surprised no one has picked him up yet. Where are the baseball minds who know the game. He almost goes at least five innings in every start and most of the time keeps his team in the game. He is still by far the best fielding pitcher in the game. He made some mistakes last year but even having him in the bullpen to pitch to one hitter it would be worth it. Especially someone who has not batted against him before. He has some kind of streak of how many major league hitters he has struck out at least once. There were at least four games where he was pitching great and a error or some lucky hit with two outs cost him. I still think he can pitch and still in top 30 starting pictures. C'mon team executives go back check the games he pitched last year and you will see what I mean. He has always been a very bad luck starting pitcher but still prevailed until last year. Give him a chance you won't regret it, We fans still want to see him out think most hitters and pitching at least one more year.

Greinke will still be around after these aspirin pitchers have blown their arms out. I wish the knuckleball would make a comeback. It's something that could be taught to a generation of young pitchers wanting a long career. Look at Phil Niekro's amazing longevity due to it.

You know what I'm currently working on improving my pitching abilities then I realized I don't need to throw gas I'll just throw some nice knuckleballs alongside a slider just incase 😂
@tomservo53473 жыл бұрын
@@juareznoah_xo215 My grandpa always told the story of some local pitcher with potential (we live right close to where Zack Wheat the HOF'er grew up) knowing a scout from a big name team would be there that evening to watch him. (This was the 1920's.) The pitcher wanted to show off and threw heaters every pitch and wore himself out by the 3rd inning to where the batters were taking him to the cleaners. The scout didn't even finish the game and parted with the words "Million dollar arm, 10 cent brain." Good luck with your pitching-bring the knuckleball back!

i dont really follow baseball and all but stumbled over this vid and im very impressed with the production value for the amount of subs you have! great job explaining and analyzing:) the video could have easily been a minute longer too, not with additional info or anything, just you takin it a touch slower and really sitting on those standout facts. i hope you dont find this "advice" annoying, anyways keep it up:)

I actually love the fast pace, but I agree that more emphasis on specific moments could be good. The narration is just a bit monotone, and that could help a lot. I'm not trying to be critical though, these videos are great

Man I think you did an incredible disservice to Greinke by not talking about his early years. It's easy to make a video framed on a few years, but expand that, show why Greinke is actually special. I mean '09 showcased a what Sub 2.2 ERA, with insane Ks and strong velo. Then he adapted over and over again. Greinke is a unicorn because of his career, he's Maddux level. Presenting him as anything less than that isn't saying how great he is. (That being said, this is 2 years old and man you've piqued my interest, can't wait to check out more.) I get it - you're limiting the scope to emphasize how unique Greinke's success was in the era, but lacking the context you're short changing the work he's done, Imo. Those pitches work because even with a loud awkward grunt he's pumping 90s fastballs when he wants to. You did show the bat flip though so...damn well done. Long story short, totally agree, but what makes him special is *How* that works. Why Eephus works. Why he can call his own pitches. How he can pump 92 in the zone then throw 75. How he can make a changed up run 89 when his FB might run 90. It's like you went "Greinke is cool" but didn't actually dig into it, because it's a fucking fascinating story. Either way - man fuck ya. More baseball all the time.
@somerandomguy59772 жыл бұрын
He threw a sinker/2-seam, I know it's like 5% but that's still a pitch he uses. I could excuse it if it threw it less but 5% is one every twenty. It's not like some guys who'll throw a pitch less a percent of the time. I know 5% is not much but it's still definetly a pitch that he throws.

KInda refreshing, ain't he? Guy who's got it and a lot of it, but thinks: So what? I could do other things. He sounds like my autistic grandaughter. She is just seven, non-verbal, except: NO! Only apparent talent so far is climbing and hiding. She is scary good. She climbs anything, fearless. How many times have we rescued her? Can't count. She never falls-very methodical, and comes down carefully. She started as a just a toddler climbing the refrigerator (nobody has seen how she does that-maybe levitates), closet shelves, then fences, brick walls with a little toehold, playground equipment, trees. She escapes over nearly anything. Someday, I swear, put her on Half Dome and she's gonna climb it. She is fascinating to watch, to know. And a happy, affectionate kid too. Maybe Zack has a bit of that. Good luck to him!

I just like Zack Greinke....I find it funny how intolerant of individuality organized anything can be....How about those cardboard cut outs and the unprecedented stupidty of COVID....I wondered how it affected the talent pool in baseball, I'm thinkin that it streamlined the scouting system back to even more regimented clones and drones maybe that is a video, I dunno.
