maybe it’s more of a personal attention issue on my part but 4 hours was just too long. my cousin had to wake me up twice while watching the movie. i think it was the slow-mo and the pacing overall. also i had just seen the two wonder woman films and birds of prey, so it’s probably why i just wasn’t invested in the story as the characters. it’s not a bad film, it just wasn’t for me.

Both movies are masterpieces in their own rights and are easily some of the best CBMs of all time, while I do personally prefer the Avengers Zack Snyder’s Justice League far exceeded my expectations and proved to me he can make a great movie. All he needs to do is focus more on the character development rather than just visuals+action and boom, you have a great Zack Snyder movie. One of the reasons why I loved the Snyder cut, all my complaints on the last 2 movies were removed from this movie and greatly improved. Congrats Snyder!

I'll be editing this comment after each comparison between both Justice League films have been made. 1. Personally, I'd rather have a drawn out story with character development so I can care about the characters, than a super fast story that doesn't allow me to care about anyone in the film. Yes, there is a bit too much slow motion, and Icelandic singing doesn't need to play it entirely, but I'd rather watch that than Flash falling on Wonder Woman's boobs. The overall story is the same, yes. But everyone who actually understands what really went on behind the theatrical cut would have understood that, and wouldn't have expected an entirely different story. Joss Whedon's did rewrites, and made a few new scenes. There's no going to be a big difference in the main story. But like you said, the difference is in how it's presented. And in my personal opinion, most of the story bests are far better and more compelling in the Snyder Cut. The scene where they talk about reviving Superman is far more impactful and feels far more important. You have your opinion, which is fine. There's nothing wrong with that. This is just mine. To add to it because of the Avengers part, conflict doesn't necessarily make the story better. Even if it's a good conflict that makes sense with the characters. Specifically inter character conflict (with the heroes). 2. For the most part, this will have to do with Snyder Cut against the Avengers. I mostly agree with your opinion on this part. Although I do prefer the Snyder Cut Aquaman over theatrical cut Aquaman. They're essentially the same, but theatrical cut seems like he's just there to make everyone feel like shit and to make them lose hope of winning. Snyder Cut Aquaman cares (the part where he's talking about Cyborg after the death of his father). When compared to Avengers, it helps that Avengers had films with the heroes already established. All Joss needed to do was take them and place then in this story, while making them feel like the same characters. Zack was not only forced to have to introduce every hero by WB's greediness, but had to do it in an effective way. Yes, in the end, Avengers handles the characters better, but it's ultimately due to already having solo films. If the DCEU had solo films before Justice League, it would have been better. 3. Yes, Steppenwolf is more interesting in the Snyder Cut. No argument there. Although I feel he's also more intimidating in the Snyder Cut. One really only has to watch the fight scenes in both films and compare them. Snyder Cut Steepenwolf is far more brutal. Although, with how the final battle went, he's technically not as powerful. In the theatrical cut he overpowers the League until Superman comes. In the Snyder Cut, he's weaker and more on the same level as the League. He puts up a fight, rather than overpowers them. Yes, looking always better, and yes, it just shows how Darkseid isn't very smart. Although, you could argue that since he was just conquering world after world that eh didn't really pay attention to which planet was which. Sure, the anti-life equation was the whole point of conquering worlds, but he probably didn't expect to lose. He probably also had multiple sets of mother boxes. After all, Steppenwolf has been destroying worlds before he came to Earth. 4. Again, for the most part I agree with you here. Martian Manhunter definitely took away the impact from the Martha/Lois scene, and he should have just been saved for a post credit scene (with maybe a heavy cut of the Knightmare scene, because yeah, it is a little forced, despite the fact I still enjoy it). Coulson's death was definitely more impactful than Silas's death, but they both serve different purposes. Silas serves for Cyborg's character arc, and to help the Justice League have a chance at winning. Coulson was only a motivation for the Avengers. If anything it just shows that the League is more willing to out up with each other to save the world, than the Avengers are even between fighting. And with Volko, I'm perfectly fine with him in Justice League. It was meant to set up Aquaman's solo film, as he was supposed to be in the original film before Joss's rewrites and edit. 5. This is more of a subjective thing than anything else you've talked about. In my opinion, Danny's score stands out in the film more, but it doesn't make the film better, and oftentimes, it gives a different feeling than what the screen is giving. Tom's score better supports the action, the vocals for Wonder Woman didn't bother me that much. I was fine with it. But Tom's score is far more entertaining to listen to on its own than Danny's score is. Danny's works somewhat with the movie, but not so much on its own. And considering the best music Danny made for Justice League wasn't in the film, it made the movie been worse in my opinion. The Avengers score is great, but far less entertaining on its own in my opinion. It works far better for the film, which is what you're arguing for, but still. And then yeah, Snyder Cut has the best sound effects and sound design. 6. Yeah, in my opinion the visual effects for the Snyder Cut is the best. Some of it isn't finished, but WB didn't give him the biggest budget to finish all of it. They had a new Cyborg, a new Steppwolf, Darkseid, Desaad (both new characters), and a bunch of other stuff. New scenes that were shot with the $70 million. Using $70 million to not only add new scenes AND finish the VFX is hard. Sure, there doesn't need to be new scenes, but considering this will likely be the last Zack Sndyer movie, I understand why he wanted to put as much as possible into the film, and I'm fine with it. I don't think the Snyder Cut is the best film ever. I don't even necessarily think it's better than Avengers. I don't think it's worse, but I don't think it's better. They're clearly very different films with completely different circumstances surrounding them. A lot of Justice Leagues's problems (with both versions) come from the lack of solo movies. Which is WB's fault. Zack did his best, and I can appreciate that (I also don't mind the 4 hours, I'd gladly sit through 8 hours of this film). I also enjoyed Zack's previous DC films, so I didn't mind seeing more his work. I'm not going to comment on the genre aspect of the video, because like I said, the majority of the difference between the films comes down to the circumstances behind their production. I love both the Snyder Cut and Avengers, and I would need trade one for another. If I was forced to choose, I guess the Snyder Cut would be my choice, but only because it has more stuff for me to enjoy (because it's longer, and therefore will present me with more of the stuff I like). That, or I'd trick the person forcing me to leave me alone and I'd watch both films.

There are plenty of good (or at least passable) but some just look downright terrible, mostly when it comes to motion (Wonder Woman's magical heels in Greece, Cyborg's mindworld, and Wonder Woman's weird running which never matches her movement come to mind). That's not even getting into the weird visual screw ups, such as Steppenwolf standing on nothing when he chokes Amber Heard, or how they somehow managed to make a fully CGI Parademon wait their turn in the action scene where Flash is being used as moral support. Or when the explosion is behind the car during Flashes introduction.

My only complaint in this video is that you didn't address Junkie XL's score when Flash turned back time. Seriously, that part of Junkie XL's score was ABSOLUTLY on point. Maybe it might not have swayed who you gave a point too, but I would have appreciated if you mentioned it. Also, one thing that I think one should consider about the Snyder Cut is that WB was meddling with the DCEU from the start. You talk about how the movie feels like it has to pause itself because they had to introduce Flash and Cyborg? Well, if WB elected to take TIME like the MCU did and slowly introduce the League in other movies (instead of jam packing their introductions into this one), then perhaps there a Justice League movie would have been better. In the end, Zack Snyder had to work with what he was given in the DCEU, "Get a DC Cinematic Universe off the ground and make a Justice League movie as quickly as possible." And Zack Snyder did that and was doing it HIS way, but then WB elected to pull the plug when things got bad. I now look back at Man of Steel and BvS and realize what they were supposed to be and I appreciate them a lot more now than I ever did before. In short, I agree with a lot of what you said, but I do think it's worth taking the lead-up to both of these films into account when discussing what made them work or not work, because The Avengers showed us what's possible when you put time and effort into longform stories, and Snyder's DCEU is a cautionary tale about what happens when a studio rushes something and then panics when, big surprise, it's not going how you thought it would. In the end, with DC now putting the multiverse in play, they are writing themselves into a corner with the SnyderVerse. They have a streaming service, just make the SnyderVerse an HBO Max original and continue the plan for the theatrical DCEU as is. Everybody wins! All this is to say you made a good video, I just had a couple of things I wanted to address about it, nothing that I would fundamentally disagree with you on, just a couple of things that I thought would be worth bringing into the conversation.

Here's the thing though, just because WB is the one who made all these movies bad because they wanted to rush a cinematic universe, that doest mean that it makes the movies any better. Just because it's not Zach Snyder fault, doesn't mean the movies become better than they were. BvS was a terrible movie and even though it basically was what it was supposed to be, doesn't mean what is was supposed to be is good, that just means that Bvs was fundamentally bad to begin with. It doesn't matter what makes a movie bad, whether it's corporate meddling or just bad direction or writing, a bad movie is a bad movie at the end of the day. Very good job on this video mate. Here are my thoughts on every category: The Story and Themes: I agree that The Avengers has the better story, no argument there. But even though The Snyder Cut can drag sometimes, I was honestly much more invested in the characters because the movie had heart. Something that the theatrical cut didn't have. The Heroes: Yep, The Avengers has the better characters overall and the heroes are a lot better handled in The Snyder Cut (especially Cyborg and Flash) than the theatrical cut. The Villain: Loki is the clear winner here and Steppenwolf was 10 times better handled in The Snyder Cut compared to the theatrical cut. The Supporting Characters: 100% agree here. The Avengers as number 1 and The Snyder Cut as number 2 in this category. The Sounds: Snyder Cut has much better sound design than the other two and Silvestri's work on The Avengers gets the win for me. But I have to disagree with the second place. Holkenborg's score had much more impact compared to Elfman's work, which was sadly very rushed and underwhelming. The Visuals: The Snyder Cut easily wins this category with The Avengers in second. The Genre: The Avengers definitely wins this category but The Snyder Cut is better than the theatrical cut just because the movie had one complete vision and was not ruined by a lot of studio interference.

The story is both the same imo, but there were more layers for syndercut. The characters like captain america and Iron man have just enough depth similar to Cyborg and Flash. While Batman, Wonder woman and Aquaman didn't have as much depth it still had enough unlike hawkeye and widow in avengers... There were barely any weight on the supporting characters in avengers especially on the lead characters unlike barry and cyborg's father.... It's kinda sad that ppl are actually comparing theaterical cut to the synder cut where the theatrical cut was a parody compared to the actual work which is synder cut.

Thank you for saying Whedon would have made a better movie had he been given more time than just 2 hours. Every time I ask someone if ZSJL would be as good if it was cut down to two hours they always skirt around the issue. My biggest problem, aside from slow motion every 10 seconds, is that Flash and Aquaman needed lead up movies prior to this. But I agree with everything you said. I think without using Josstice League as a barometer, the Snyder Cut doesn't get that same level of praise.
