Angelina gave the girl her prized sea green boots, and vowed to always sing barefoot - and she has fulfilled that commitment to this day. She's as awesome a human being as she is a mindblowingly talented vocalist.

Angelina rewrote the lyrics the night before because her mom saw the original lyrics and told her it was not appropriate for her youg age to sing. She arranged it to fit without needing to change the music. All arrangements had already been made, so she had to keep the commitments while also not requiring the music to be changed. She did the first take and was not happy with the results. So she did a second take, which is the one you reviewed. I have been addicted to all things Angelina since late 2017. She is the most remarkable young musical talent I’ve ever listened to. Angelina has a highly advanced musical IQ, intuition and instincts. Angelina, the girl with a 1000 voices! Singing Whitney at 18 months, infatuated with jazz at 3 years old. She lives for singing. All of her many, many covers are brilliant whatever the genre, whatever her age, whatever the venue, she always respects the original artist but adds her own colouring, the result is always mind blowing. The day before this recording session was scheduled with KORK, Angelina's mom read the lyrics about sex & drugs & she told AJ that she needed to re-write the lyrics if she wanted to record the song. She is 10 yo here reading her hand written lyrics in this, the 2nd & final take. She didn't like the 1st take & there is a video of her listening to it & when asked what she thought about it, her answer was "yuck!" The re-write totally changed the song to be about love & her new lyrics fit perfectly in the melody, so the orchestra didn't have to change a thing. BTW, the barefoot thing is not about comfort, it's a beautiful story dating back to when she was 6 yo, which you can Google. She actually wrote a book about it when she was 9 yo, so you should do some research on it. In her recent Vegas Concerts she performed a new song that isn't officially released yet, about why she sings barefoot & it's called Princess of Ruin.

In Angelina's inspiration and research, Amy has a particular place, it is in fact a bond that often comes to mind spontaneously, also due to the jazz-soul connotation that is so similar for both. Angelina has rearranged several of Amy's songs, often having to change (as in this case and without altering the band's arrangement) the lyrics, due to the extremely crude words that were used in the songs, but her versions of the songs are always extremely respectful and emotional, thanks to the passion with which she fills with grace (is softer than Amy), with her warm and deep voice. You can't help but fall in love with her and her dedication to her dream! 💛🧡❤

This was a revised version because her mom didn’t feel that a 12-year-old should sing the lyrics to the original version. Which I come in the family highly for making that decision. Angelina's reason for not wearing shoes actually indicates maturity way beyond not only her years but mine too - and I'll never see 60 again. She was in the Middle-East with her mother and grandmother when she encountered an obviously destitute little girl begging passers-by to weigh themselves on some old bathroom scales she probably found someplace for a little pocket change. Angelina stopped to talk to the girl, presumably in Farsi, her maternal grandmother's mother tongue, and learned that she was an orphan, homeless and had even younger siblings she needed to take care of. Angelina took off her shoes to step on the scales, already a sign that she, at six years old, was probably more thoughtful than many adults who may have gone before her. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes, at which point Angelina, noticing the girl's bare feet were scarred and dirty, told her to take them. I guess there would have been some back and forth and seeking her folks' approval; nothing of this is mentioned but Angelina next wanted to know what the girl wanted to be when she grows up, to which the girl explained she would once have loved to become a doctor but realised that her situation would make this unlikely. Six-year-old Angelina told the girl to hold onto her dream and told the girl that her own dream would be to sing for the whole world. The girl promised to pray for Angelina every day and they parted, each richer and wiser. At that moment or soon after, Angelina vowed her public performances henceforth would be barefoot until such time as every child worldwide who so chooses can own their own shoes. So, let's break it down. Angelina (6) gave attention to a child many adults before her were doubtless ignoring. Angelina (6) sought to motivate someone displaying signs of losing hope. Angelina (6) was prepared to, at least until she arrived back home, experience a little of the girl's pain. Angelina, who presumably at six didn't care how much she weighed, stepped on the girl's scales apparently several times. Quite possibly she considered this to be less condescending than shovelling extra unearned money into a fellow human's hands. Then, having relinquished the shoes off of her feet, Angelina (6), having never graced a stage apart from maybe in a school Nativity play, declares what she is going to do - not might do or wants to do if she makes it - what she is GOING TO DO and how she plans to do it for what she is smart enough to know will probably be an indefinite period. Then . . . oh yeah, then she writes a book about the experience and becomes Norway's youngest published author. I don't know if I can find any childish anywhere in the protagonist of this story, believe it. Oh, I forgot to say she was only six!

Angelina rewrote the lyrics within 24 hours because her mother objected to some of them. She turned a very dark song into a love song in one day, plus it was reported that not one note of the orchestra’s music had to be changed. They did one take, Angelina listened to it and said “Yuck,” so this is their second take. About originals, she wrote “Oslo” about her home town, and it was put on her “It’s Magic” album which she finished at age 12. Oslo is a very beautiful song from the heart. A must listen!

Hard to believe at 10 years old and even more just hours before she recorded this she was at an amusement park doing a phone shoot with her friends and there is video out there of her and all of them screaming at the top of her lungs on roller coasters then off to work.. you see her reading her notes because she had just written the lyrics the night before because her mom said she if the lyrics were not age appropriate for a 10 year old she could not record, and she did this with out changing a note of the music

She published a book at 9 yo that is about meeting a girl at 6 yo and gave her shoes to her. The writings are from her diary when she was 6. If you listen to what she wrote, you will not find many adults that can put that feelings of her experience in such words that she did. There are a few of her original songs beginning when she was about 11.

As others have already pointed out, this _was_ an example of her "pen game". If you compare what she sings here to Amy's lyrics, you'll find that every single line of the song is different from the original. The closest Angelina's lyrics come to Amy's is at the beginning of one of the verses, where she sings "I love you so", whereas Amy sang "I love you much". Every other line is anywhere from significantly different to _completely_ different from Amy's. In short, lyrics-wise, this is a totally different song - although she mostly maintains the basic "pattern" of Amy's lyrics. For example, in the bridge, Angelina repeatedly sings the word "laugh", whereas Amy sang the word "black". (BTW, don't bother looking up Angelina's lyrics to this song online. The results returned by all major search engines - taken from a certain lyrics website which clearly has quality-control issues - are _riddled_ with errors from the very first line onwards.) In any case, because Angelina's lyrics are so different from Amy's, I count this as her first "original" to be recorded and released (in April 2015, when she was 10). Her next two originals, "Oslo" and "What Is Life", both featuring words and music by her, were recorded in November 2017 and relased in June 2018 on the full-length album called _It's Magic_ .

Angelina's mother urged her to rewrite the lyrics otherwise she wouldn't give Angelina permission to perform this song (which originally is about committing suicide.... not a subject you like a 10 year old to sing about), so that is what Angelina did in a very clever way: Angelina did replace the word "die" in the lyrics for "cry", transferring it in a sad love song with almost the same emotional feeling and exactly the same melody lines. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age appropriate at that time. I sure people have told you why she's bare footed now, and it's realy not a childish thing. I would say it's more of an adult thing than most adults have displayed in their lives and she started it at about 6 I believe.
