That entire concert is fantastic to watch! Crazy how just the two of them on the stage can bring so much energy and form such a strong connection with the audience.

Your interpretation is fantastic!!! Probably the best breakdown of this song I’ve heard. The album Blurryface was intended to be a character study. When Tyler described how he conceptualized Blurryface, he said he imagined sitting across the table from this character that represented all of the things he didn’t like about himself. The fears, insecurities, doubt, questions of faith, dark thoughts, mental illness, etc. The Icy Tour was fantastic!! If you want something just fun, you could watch a live version of their cover of Elton John’s “Benny and the Jets” that goes into their song “Mulberry Street” from their most recent album.

this was one of the first songs of theirs i fell in love with, glad to see how much you enjoyed this one. Goner-live at Fox Theatre is the last song from the Blurryface album and is definitely worth checking out! If you listen again closely around 4:24 in the song you can hear tyler sing 'Josh Dun' faintly in the backing vocals because tyler saw Josh outside the recording booth and called out to him during a take and told them to keep it in the final song because it sounded so similar to 'the judge'. Fans scream that line out when they play it live.

then they called back to it in Morph! "not done, not done, not done, Josh Dun"

Yep I love how he pairs darkness and serious topics with uplifting music. Many of his songs are written with live performance in mind. This one is usually part of their campfire part of the set🔥 and he loves his ukulele ❤️

Very impressed you understood the "three lights are lit but the fourth one's out"verse! There are more gret songs from Blurryface to flesh out Tyler's mental state, that you might want to do before moving on to Heavydirtysoul and the 'Trench Trilogy'. Those four videos visually tell the story of Trench, the world they created for the last two albums - the city of Dema, the nine bishops who rule over its citizens, and the Banditos. It's basically the inside of Tyler's mind made real and I can tell it's going to blow you away!

You asked for something light, fun, that won't hurt your brain. This is two videos, back to back. You'll be glad you watched both together. First watch The Hype (Official Music Video) then watch The Hype (Berlin), where Tyler gives us a whole different take on the song. And it's fun! Just what you need!

Great reaction! 👍 You caught a lot. There are so many lyric lines from this song a lot of us Clikkies quote a lot. And Tyler's always calling back to other songs and lyrics so nice catches. No doubt you'll start to see the patterns coming out. Great analysis, awesome reaction! Keep the pen!! |-/ 💛

Well I don't have anything brainless. Maybe Presidents of the United States of America "Lump" or "Peaches" as a few random pop/punk songs? Lol (I'm assuming everyone has heard the hit Blink 182 songs by now.) You stopped right when he said doubt in these lyrics, so naturally the next song by them you could react to is "Doubt". Then "Message Man" to continue the 2nd half of Blurryface.

I don’t mean to be weird or anything but were you referring to 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Or were you talking about another passage? I also wanted to say that I appreciate your take on this song. I wonder if it helps that you are the same age as Tyler; perhaps giving you extra insights into his perspectives because you were experiencing the culture at the same developmental stages in life? For instance in Car Radio your understanding of the importance of a car radio and your horror at the thought of not having one! I didn’t have access to music a lot when I was growing up so I’m happy with silence and had a harder time with the excessively noisy now we happen to live in.

Interesting reaction to The Judge. I watched it yesterday but didn't comment. I appreciate hearing your take, but i didn't expect you to start quoting scripture. You almost lost me there. Still I figured i should come back, share my thoughts, and give a perspective that is universal. I am not religious, and in fact most TØP fans are not religious. I know you have a lot of background by now,, but will add a bit for anyone who might have randomly watched this video. The Judge is on the album Blurryface. Blurryface is a part of Tyler, representing the things he doesn't like about himself, his insecurities. Tyler wears the black paint on his throat and hand because is symbolizes the suffocating feeling of anxiety, and the self-doubt and insecurity about what he creates, primarily his music. It's easy to then say Blurryface is the The Judge. Tyler has spoken about his creative process, and he has said that the music is an entity, with it's own set of morals. It decides where it will go, whether it will take a left or a right. I hear this song as Tyler, or even the Music itself, asking to be set free. Free from the criticism and insecurity that Blurryface uses to suppress Tyler and his music. That's my interpretation. Thanks for reading it.

I'm not religious at all. I've just read every book and visited every temple, church, etc in my own search. Don't misunderstand my being well read for my beliefs. Knowing something by no means equates to me believing it. Just a little about me 😁
