I used to work as a home health RN, did everything from showering the client (using a track lift) to changing tracheostomy tube, monitoring ventilator(s), admin meds via G-tube, etc. It's not an easy job but it was very enjoyable and rewarding. Would go on trips with the client and family. Great memorable times! Josh is an excellent caregiver. Always be patience with Josh. Please don't get frustrated/angry with him. It takes a "special caring person" to be a caregiver, LPN, RN, etc.

Thanks for sharing. At your primary residence do you have a specialized environment to support you in accomplishing your personal hygiene with less attendant support or about the same? I have been planning a residence within 3 blocks of the local university and have given a lot of thought to including a room suitable for use by a person in a wheelchair. Although I am not currently in need of support, as I age I think i would like to remain at home if my agility should decrease. Cheers

I brought my own. I have a portable one. But there’s a company that you can rent commode chairs, and Hoyer lift from that deliver and work with cruise lines. scootaround.com/en

Do you worry about pressure sores? I was interning in a hospitals a guy about 45 yrs old came in and his feet were in such bad shape they removed them. He was a smoker though among other bad choices. I don’t think the guy showered in months. You take good care of yourself.
