great build, if you painted it white - you’d never know it was there

hey zack nice build. just wanted to give you a little tip. the reason the cementall separated away from the barrier at the top is because you are applying a cementitious product to a painted surface and it's not bonding properly. to get a good bond you need to grind off some of the paint, then wet or use some bonding adhesive on the barrier so the cementall can bond to the concrete below the paint and then it will be much stronger. i use an angle grinder with a cup wheel to do it. it's dusty and loud but it only takes a minute and it'll make the end product a lot better. another thing i wanted to say and it's not really a tip, more of a suggestion, but if you have spots that are close to your house and and you can park right near it why not mix all the concrete at home, put it in buckets and then put it in the back of your truck/suv and go right to the spot and dump it all real quick. if you use regular quikrete it's probably not going to go bad in the back of your truck as long as you don't fuck around. just gotta make sure all your prep work is all done beforehand.

Imagine pulling up to the spot with 7 buckets of mixed crete and all of a sudden it's a bust 😂 🤷♂️

+1 for painting it white so that it blends in a lot better. Casual passersby wouldn’t notice it much.

looks like you need a hand trowel for mixing, the screeding trowel works ok but a purpose small one would be great. obviously shovel works but small handheld you could mix in circles. enjoyed a fair few of your videos on this journey of yours! good stuff.

Not that you needed it for this build, but you should look in to plasticiser to mix with the water. Will reduced the amount of water you need for the concrete. Good for those remote builds.

Here’s a tip from someone who actually works with conrete on the daily. Stop with Bondo and buy yourself a bag of CementAll. Excellent for feathering in and dries quickly. Bit pricey for a bag at around $25,but it’ll go a LOT farther than a can of bondo.

In Lue of rebar chicken wire folded into the cement would help with a bit more structural to the cement although add cost…? Cutting the thin tip with the trowel and adding that to the transition as we both know a bit of bondo is going to be needed anyways… nice work bruh! Paint it and it’ll disappear to most people ❤

Also this is clearly a development so thats gotta stay disposable sadly. Check your local recycling centres for paint cans on a side note. I know where I live u can grab paint from them

You know when you take a blanket and push your cloth together and it makes a transition? There’s got to be a way to utilize that method and make a skatepark out of pushing fabric together somehow and pour cement in a way that looks like your bed sheet transitions. Weird I know but fuck it why not think about its possible?

imo this vid could have been cut down to 10 minutes... i played it at 2x speed and still had the need to skip parts. sometimes it's better just to not talk than talk... i like you vids, but i dont think you have to decipher and explain every step. trim the runtime to half build, half skate (and not talk the entire duration) -shrugs-. i know i'd enjoy that more than 95% drawn-out build, 5% skate (if that). just an opinion, that's all. :) keep at it... the diy stuff is good, just gotta balance the content.
